Subject: Ladies, help! Swimsuit sizing question
I want to get a lovely polyester Dolfin Ugly, as both my Speedo and TYR suits are dying slow, painfully chlorinated deaths. My problem is sizing, which is confusing at best.

My Speedo suit is a size 12/38.
My TYR suit is a size 8/36.
(Which makes even less sense, since my bust size is 34. Sigh.)

I was hoping someone might know what is comparable to the Dolfin. One site I went to said they recommend going up one size from whatever you wear in Speedo. A 40? Really. And that's even more confusing as the biggest size I see listed is 38...Do I just order based on my bust size?

(If it helps, but it probably won't, my dress size is usually between a 4 and a 6, depending on the store).

Any advice?

No specific help on that brand, but I wanted to say for the record that swimsuit sizes are terrible to try and figure out! Very frustrating.

After emailing the manufacturer for my first online purchase (emailed my height, weight, and measurements), I went with a size 28 per their recommendation. It's too small, but wearable. So when I ordered some last week, I went with a 30. It's even smaller than the 28, all though they are different brands. I will probably have to go up to a 34 in that brand.

Then, in a different brand, I went by their size chart and ordered an XS. Which fits great.

WHO KNOWS! I'd just guess and send it back for an exchange if you have to.

Your buying them way too big! Im 5'8" with the same size bust and usually get a 28 or 30 size Speedo/TYR/any brand. I was a swimmer so ive had about 100 swim suits in every brand you can imagine..... teyre all roughly the same. The secret is that you want them a little snug becasue they stretch out quickly. If they're comfortable to begin with then theyre going to be big within 10 uses. If it helps at all i am 5'8" and a size 4/6........ Also Nike I would suggest ordering your dress size.... they fit fairly well.

Also definitly pay up for the Polyester suits.... they'll last 10x as long so well worth the extra $20

Yeah, another vote that you are probably going too big. I bought a too big one and my coach told me that it was. I thought it was fine, but it did tend to bag out. She told me that I should be wearing a 32 or a 34 (I think I was wearing a 38 or something), so I went down to a 34 and wear it in all brands now. I've only been wearing polyester though, so maybe I'd wear a 32 in lycra?

Anyway, I just wanted to point out that you should probably be buying a smaller size, but 36 at the largest is my advice.

I'm going to have to disagree that they are all the same. At least in my experience. I was also a swimmer and am not sure I've ever had two different brands of the same size fit me the same. At all. They are all completely different, which is the problem. I am 5'6", 120 pounds and will have to send back a size 30 becuase it's about 2 sizes too small... would never have guessed that.

I have both Speedo and Dolphin poly suits and Speedo runs larger than Dolphin. It may be the material is more stretchy on the Speedo than the Dolfin.  I wear either 36 or 38 I'd have to look.

If your Speedo fits in 38 I'd get the same size in the Dolphin not smaller.

I wear a 36 for Dolphin Uglies, and it's snug. The 36s I ordered for TYR and Sporti are a little on the loose side for me. I'm hoping I can shrink them, lol.

I'm 5'3'' and 120 lbs.

For Dolfin Uglies, sizing can indeed be tricky. Generally, it's recommended to size up from your Speedo size. If your Speedo is a 12/38, a Dolfin 38 might be a good start. However, Dolfin suits can run small, so a 40 could also work, even if it's not listed, as some sites might carry different inventory. Ordering based on bust size (34) can be a good approach. It might also help to check the specific site's size chart or customer reviews for more accurate guidance.
