Pre-race routine:

Got up at 0355 AM. Ate 2 Hard-boiled eggs, 2 sausages, 1/3 cup of Oatmeal w/ a pinch of salt, 1 Kiwi, and a glass of water. At 4:30 am, I had half a cup of coffee, black w/sugar. I was basically on site and parked my vehicle at 4:35 ish. First to pick my transition spot on the rack and got my chip with no lines.
Event warmup:

Stretched inside the Gym with a few yoga techniques nothing crazy. Was the first one in the pool-swam about 200 meters. Light jogging in place to get things warm to hurry up and wait.
Swim
  • 07m 24s
  • 350 yards
  • 02m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

Stupid me, didn't give Kelly my swim time when I registered so they gave me number 496 LOL I've swam 350 in 6:40 during training so after talking to a few people in line, I slipped into the "1-100" number group. Had to stop and kinda wait for people to push off the wall at an angle to get under the rope. I just held my breath, swam under the rope at an angle when I had the opportunity in order to get a good straight push off the wall.
What would you do differently?:

Well I think I should have passed the swimmer in front of me a LOT sooner than I did.
Transition 1
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

Wobbly, balancing on one foot standing to get my socks on. Put my helmet on and forgot to buckle the chinstrap. Realized this at the mount line. Stupid mistake. Fumbled a bit and slipped trying to clip in-almost smashed my shin on the pedal but glad I didn't. Overall-I need to work on getting going faster and remember to clip my helmet strap ASAP.

Bike
  • 34m 12s
  • 12 miles
  • 21.05 mile/hr
Comments:

Got going pretty good...sucked an Accel Gel down real quick and sipped on some water and did a powerade mouth-flush-spit a few times which really helped with that stupid after-taste.

Got stuck behind a few people coasting on their pedals really early before the turns. I had to call out "Left" maybe 3 times but overall a nice ride. Got passed by 2 or 3 guys on 35,000 dollar bikes lol. Very Jealous!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Got really confused when I approached my second lap. They had 2 lanes marked off one guiy holding a sign saying "1st lap" straight but i thought to myself, I'm on the 2ND lap right now so wtf where do I go? straight or right? Hit both of my brakes really hard-locked up the real wheel, then sprinted straight forward after a bunch of nonsense. I was kinda pissed but stepped up my pace on the second lap to try to overcome my epic failure at that point.
Transition 2
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

Easy Transition. I unbuckled my shoes while cruising into the T2 and slipped right out after unclipping to get into my running sneakers.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing much I think I did pretty good.
Run
  • 25m 11s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 06s  min/mile
Comments:

First 1/2 mile of the run I was dragging-ass. I just wanted to stop and let my legs un-burn themselves and then continue on but I would have kicked myself if I would have stopped so I just went ahead and ran the whole stupid sun blazing hilly thing LOL. Thought about my running form on several occasions like leaning forward just a bit and not swaying my upper torso side to side too crazy...worked on deep breathing and rythm. Overall, I'm happy with my run. Maybe I can go faster next time.
Post race
Warm down:

Had a bananna, pancakes, 2 cups of coffee because I'm a coffee addict, and walked around aimlessly for like 3 hours waiting for the transition to open LOL.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Myself Der!!

Event comments:

Parking was kinda crappy-They could have at least mowed down the 4 foot tall grass but I had a nice spot by the fence up front.

The Facilities were absolutely amazing. I took advantage of their 1 month free membership prior to the tri. A++!!

Can't seem to reiterate how amazing all of the facilities were...showers, towels, soap, lotions, water and lockers all available inside the facility. Bathroom poolside, and about 8 port-a-potties in the transition area.

I will DEFINITLY register again for this wonderful triathalon. I hope they schedule another this fall like Kelly said in the email!!! Please do another one!!!!!!!!!!
