Pre-race routine:

Got up early (as usual)
Oatmeal, PB on Pita, and a coffee (McD)
Ate a banana on the road
Got organized and socialized with team mates

Event warmup:

Went for a quick warm up swim in murky water... reminded me of Guelph II 2012 - Yuk
Swim
  • 14m 38s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 57s / 100 meters
Comments:

Water was murky at beginning
Had a ~400m run up - actual time out of water was 13:22
What would you do differently?:

get some feet to draft earlier on
Transition 1
  • 01m 48s
Comments:

Getting better
What would you do differently?:

Try to find a better way to get legs out of wetsuit - seem to get stuck which result in calf cramp...
Bike
  • 52m 17s
  • 30 kms
  • 34.05 km/hr
Comments:

This course was nowhere easy as Tommy Ferris states in the 2013 video on MSC Channel
It was challenging but fun to do
Got passed by 2 guys in duathlon and one Triathlon guy in AG - let him go ~2K before T2 due to headwind causing his bike to go all over the place
Came out 3rd off the bike in AG
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Got to work on run...
Transition 2
  • 01m 28s
Run
  • 36m 42s
  • 7.5 kms
  • 04m 53s  min/km
Comments:

Did better this time
Felt good the entire run - not as hot as two previous events
Got passed late during the run by 3-4 guys - has no juice left but still average just under 5:00/K
What would you do differently?:

Keep on working on speed work and running hard after bike
Post race
Warm down:

went for a quick dip - water still murky at beach access

What limited your ability to perform faster:

slow race pace - improving though

Event comments:

Great job for the first MSC venue
Will do it again as close by
