Pre-race routine:

My husband was supposed to do the men's race here but he had to work, so I took my kiddos over to the in-laws house and drove up to Anthem. Got there about 20 minutes before the men's race started, racked my bike on the female side, picked up my number- Lucky number 13!!! Again- that's the 3rd time I have had that race number :) Then I headed to the pool to watch some friends race.
Event warmup:

Watching the mens race and chatting with friends.
Swim
  • 07m 26s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

Serpentine style swim, up and back in same lane. Put myself in the 6:30-7:00 minute group which meant I was quite far up front of the swim. I was passed by one lady after 100m then I passed about 4 people in the pool. It wasnt as bad/crowded as the reverse tri.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, the time includes getting out of the pool and to the timing mat, so I think I was right around 7 minutes which is good for me.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Transition time included in bike split. The transition area was closer to the pool this year which was nice.
Bike
  • 37m 10s
  • 14 miles
  • 22.60 mile/hr
Comments:

I love the Anthem course, it is similar to my neighborhood. I like the hills :) I was hoping for a faster bike split but the transition times are included in this, the navigating around the parking lot took up a lot of time too.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Had an issue getting my right shoe on Grrr! Time included in bike split.
Run
  • 21m 6s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 06m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

The run went down the trail system, Uturned then ran up the long, gradual hill. I passed 2 women in the first 2 miles, then 2 more right before the finish. The woman I raced against last week atthe reverse tri was running so fast, I couldnt make up any time on her, in fact she ran a 19:XX. My friend rode his bike by me, which was helpful except he was videotaping which was not cool when you are huffing and puffing like I was!
Post race
Warm down:

Rode a loop of the bike course with friends, ate a lot of cookies and sat in the sun! Met BryanCD and his wife Jamie- it was so nice to finally meet them- they are the cutest tri couple!
I got a neat bobble head trophy :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

This was just a fun race in the midst of marathon training. I didnt really taper for it.
