Event warmup:

Nothing. I didn't want to get in the water any sooner than I had to.
Swim
  • 15m 9s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started on the right of the pack. After being worried about cold water all week, the water temp was great! Since I stayed on the outside of the pack I didn't deal with anyone kicking me or running over me. I did a terrible job of sighting and ended up swimming more distance than necessary, but I don't care since I didn't get wacked. Came out of the water 6th in my age group.
What would you do differently?:

Get clear goggles for overcast weather. I couldn't see the buoys and had to lift my goggles twice to make sure I was heading in the right direction.
Transition 1
  • 04m 51s
Comments:

The run from the water to the bikes was L-O-N-G! It was on pavement so it wasn't tough, but it took forever to get in the transition area. Found my bike easily (that is a first!). I got the wetsuit off easily, but put my stupid shirt on backwards and put my head through the arm hole and had to take it off and try again.
What would you do differently?:

Wear my bike shirt under my wetsuit so I don't have to fuss with it.
Bike
  • 50m 55s
  • 15 miles
  • 17.68 mile/hr
Comments:

My new bike rocks! Hill on the first loop took it out of me, but I KILLED it on the second loop. I hooted and hollared as I charged up it the second time! By the second loop I figured out my gears a bit better and I am sure I shaved a lot of time off.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Time not posted yet. Much quicker that T1. Switching to running shoes was easy enough.
Run
  • 27m 51s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

My bike really must rock because this is the first time I didn't start the run and think about how stupid triathlons and running is. haha! My legs didn't feel dead at all. Didn't drink anything on the bike except one tiny splash of water on the first loop, but my stomache still felt "jiggly" inside during the first half of the run. Not sure why. There was a hill halfway through the run that I didn't expect. It wasn't horrible, but I was thankful for the hills I have run on in training.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Since I am such a sucky runner, I am VERY proud of my run.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

My training has been pretty junky lately. I have lacked motivation and then got sick.

Event comments:

This is my best performance BY FAR! I came out of the water 6th in my age group and then finished the race 8th. That means I only lost two positions in the rest of the race...that is AMAZING! Normally, I just watch everybody fly by my on the bike and run. Woot!
