Pre-race routine:

Couldn't sleep so I got up around 2:30
Breakfast - Whole grain waffle with Almond butter, banana, yogurt and coffee.

Event warmup:

No real warm up, just walked around got in the wetsuit about 15 minutes before the first wave went off.
Swim
  • 17m 58s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Sighting was horrible. Goggles fogged up about 2 minutes into the swim, couldn't see anything. Plus it was foggy and overcast out and nothing of note as far as landmarks to use to sight. Had to stop a few times and bring my head completely out of the water to sight. Swam up on the wave ahead of me and got kicked in the face a few times :P
What would you do differently?:

Not use these goggles again. Even treated they fog quickly.
Transition 1
  • 02m 29s
Comments:

When I finished the swim and got into T1 I almost ran by my bike because someone had moved all my stuff off the end of the rack and about 2-3 bikes in. This was a horrible T1 for me as I had to find all my things and get my stuff back in order. Other than that, I was out of the wetsuit fast and had my shoes and socks on quickly. Also running out of T1 the Garmin popped off the quick release on the bike, I think when my things were moved the asshole may have knocked it loose.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, if not for the jerk moving my things I think I would have had a very quick T1
Bike
  • 44m 42s
  • 15 miles
  • 20.13 mile/hr
Comments:

Lost my elbow pad on my aero bars on the first lap.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, maybe work on handling so I don't have to slow down so much around corners
Transition 2
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

Long transition area but overall did well.
Run
  • 24m 7s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

The uphill portion kicked my butt. Overall though a good pace for me.
What would you do differently?:

More hill work
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, got my stuff gathered from T1 and rinsed off with a hose near the swim exit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Someone moving my things in T1 caused a lot of havoc and made me lose focus.

Event comments:

With the goody bags being kinda meh, (a Gatorade, sample wheaties, and shot bloks) you'd think they'd have some good post race stuff. No medals or anything though. Just a shirt.
