Pre-race routine:

Powerbar, Gatorade endurance, relaxed on the side of the road...the bus to the start line had us there 90 minutes before the start

Comments:

Great race...It was very windy, which had more affect than I thought. The hill on the bridge to manteo was not that bad, and had a great view on the way down. Everyone was talking about how hard the bridge was..."Do more hill training!"
I definitely needed more water, but had a good race. I was hoping to go much faster, but I have to remind myself that chicago was only 3 weeks ago, and Vegas is now less than one month away. It was a training race, but a PR would have been nice.
What would you do differently?:

Need more water stops...1 every other mile was not enough. Taper and be better rested when I want to do a PR 1/2 marathon. I started out too fast. I knew after mile 3 I wasn't going to maintain a 6:30 pace.

Warm down:

Stretching only. Walked 1.5 miles back to the hotel, but decided to skip the cool down run due to the torrential rain :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Too Hot, Heart Rate too high, not enough water, and started out to fast

Event comments:

The bridge is not bad at all, but everyone was talking about it. Finish line was great, lots of food/water, massage line wasn't bad until the 2hr group came in. Skipped the post race party due to heavy rain. The race made a great weekend!
