Pre-race routine:

Very early start got up at 3 am and drove to the event. I had a breakfast of muselli, all bran and honey with a cup of coffee. arrived at the event at 5 am and proceeded to transition which opened at 5:40 am
Event warmup:

tried to do some stretches but not a lot of time due to getting to the safety briefing at 6:10 am
Swim
  • 39m 42s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 39s / 100 meters
What would you do differently?:

I only managed 2 swims in the previous 7 weeks due to a crash where I dislocated my shoulder. So more training would obviously improve my times. I had swam quicker before the crash. I also need to improve my sighting. My wave had 341 I started on the outside but near the front.
Transition 1
  • 05m 31s
Comments:

The transition went well I used lots of body glide and it worked perfectly then it was a run upstairs to the transition probably about 300 meters in all.
What would you do differently?:

I would like to learn a flying mount for next time.
Bike
  • 1h 23m 31s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.85 mile/hr
Comments:

Found the ride difficult after the swim which took alot out of me.
What would you do differently?:

I would improve my aero position, overal I was disoppointed in my bike ride I can ride alot faster only 2 weeks ago I did a 50 + mile ride and had my average speed up at 20 mph. Next time it will be better.
Transition 2
  • 04m 30s
Comments:

Transition went well I got running pretty well.
What would you do differently?:

Do more bricks again it was a long run through the transition.
Run
  • 1h 04m 14s
  • 10 kms
  • 06m 25s  min/km
Comments:

wind was in your face on half of each lap, I did walk on several occassions but only for short distances as I got encouregment from others compeditors to keep going which was great.
What would you do differently?:

Need to train more and improve my run time, the time was 11 minutes slower then my fastest run time.
Post race
Warm down:

Did some stretches and walked round the expo and chilled out.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Missing the training with my shoulder definately hurt my swim and possibly my running I should have trained harder with my running, in fact I now know how much training is involved for next year.

Event comments:

Overall I really enjoyed the day and found it really well organised over the 2 days including sprint and olympic distance races there was over 8000 competitors, they claim biggest tri in the world. I found everybody really friendly and very well set out.
