  • Comments: As my first Ironman event as a participant and my first 70.3 race overall. It was a good learning experience dealing with the logistics of a point-to-point course. I’m glad I had a coach/brother to help me through the process. I enjoyed competing in a longer distance, especially with so many Ironman competitors on the course. I don’t have a good frame of reference, but the event went about as smooth as I could expect. It certainly helped to have Julie, Emma, Sherry, and Justin there in support. It didn’t take longer for the triathlon bug to bite. I went from cheering my brother on at IM Maryland in 2014 to a sprint tri in 2015 to a half IM in 2016. There’s something about the shared experience of training and competing that can bring you closer to someone you’ve looked up to your entire life. My triathlon journey will continue for a variety of reasons and motivations, but at the top of the list is maintaining that closeness and comradery with my big brother. I heard many references

  • Comments: The atmosphere was definitely more electric than B2B. Tons more ppl. The unfinished construction was a pain, but hopefully won't be a factor next year.

  • Comments: This was my first half, and it was a great experience. There were a lot of logistical issues, but I'll attribute them to the storm and flooding in the area. This is a great first half with the current on the swim and the relatively flat bike and run. The run through the streets of Wilmington is amazing. Lots of support from the local people. Overall a great race.

  • Comments: I finished the race slower than last year. I'll chalk it up to less race this season and not enough practice at transition. Sad to see a great race being bought off by the big WTC big brand, but I'm hoping it gets more exposure of the sport to more people in the area.

  • Comments: This is a well run race and a good course. It is a little confusing, but the organizers do a great job pulling off a complicated event. The course has potential for high winds, choppy water, and cold temperatures, but if the weather is good, it can be a fast course. The feel of the event is pretty big and comparable to larger branded events.

  • Comments: This is my second time doing B2B half, and I really do enjoy the race. It is well organized and a great venue. We all thought that the new finishing line and post-race area was not as nice as where it used to be on the street. But it was sunny, just lots of construction and dirt nearby. It will be much nicer when there are grassy areas to sit nearby.

  • Comments: Really this is around a 4.7. I mean this is a very well run and supported event for a non-Ironman brand. The Half distance usually sells out too. The fast swim is very attractive to folks who aren't found of the swim as well as the relatively flat bike and run courses for the promise of a fast finishing time. The two transition areas do make it a bit challenging logistics-wise and one does have to consider that the swim start isn't right next to transition either. Plus, it can be downright cold for this event. It was rather chilly as I wrote prior to the swim start and folks told me of sleet occurring during one year prior to the swim. Thank goodness they moved the race to late October rather than keeping it in early November when this first started years previously. So weather can be a big factor and I have seen where there's a been a chilly rain which is never fun on the bike. Even this one did present a bit of a challenge as what to wear on the bike considering the temperature

  • Comments: THANK YOU TO THE VOLUNTEERS AND POLICE CREWS!!! I missed BASE salts at mile 3-they said theyd be the only ones there, not so much :-( Finisher pants, again-BOOO! Gear still overpriced, and limited stock this year. Post events/area seemed smaller this year. Waiting for over an hour at the start-BOOO. Loved the shirts, loved the support, GREAT race! Results up QUICKLY, pics not so much.

  • Comments: Great fun race! The race was very organized and great enthusiastic volunteers abound. If you want a fast course to do your Half Iron distance, this would be it. Great idea on the video athlete meeting. This saved time tremendously for traveling participant like me. I wish there were more T1 bus tickets available, since I missed out on buying them. Grabbed a cab with a help of hotel close by to get back to T1.

  • Comments: This is my second half and second time at this event - I love it! its great for beginners and great for veterans looking for a fast time. The location is awesome and community makes you feel loved - the supporters have SO MUCH ENERGY. You feel welcomed in to their backyards and they make you feel like an individual person not just another racer. I will keep coming back as long as I race Tri's.

  • Comments: Absolutely great event and a must do for anyone looking for a 1st half ironman. The volunteers were absolutely incredible! The locals fully support the race and were friendly as can be. the swim is blazing fast and is set to have a strong current every year. The bike course has <250 feet of total climbing and is marked well and controlled by police well. The run is desolate most of the way and can beat you up mentally if you arent careful. The finish line energy is like nothing else! Finishers get a beautiful medal and a pair of pajama pants.

  • Comments: This was the best organized event I've attended! Not enough can be said for the volunteers or event staff. Superb experience and looking forward to next year!! Finisher Medal 2d Place Award (Para Triathlete) I felt like garbage for two days afterward. Third day, head is a little light still, but I'm recovering quickly!!

  • Comments: Can't change the weather. Would be nice to have consistency between athlete guide and actual day, and meeting. Minor differences, but one cost me over an hour. Athlete meeting...sigh, mostly PR, pat on the back garbage. Other parts very helpful and inspiring. Each one I heard was a different length in time. Ive heard good and bd on post race festivities however I had NO PROBLEMS. Expo merch was EXPENSIVE, and was charged for a finishers sticker. Computer systems also went down, but its now Tuesday and ALL results are up including A/G so kudos to them. This is a great race, If it werent 7 hours from home and often cold Id do it again. Great swim course even without a current, great bike course, and FANTASTIC run course. AMAZING VOLUNTEERS. CONGRATS to ALL!

  • Comments: My only complaint about this race was the dicey traffic situation at the end of the bike course. I wasn't wild about the T2 setup in the convention center, but I think it would be easier if I had expected it. B2B is pretty flawlessly executed...despite complicated logistics, I always knew where I was supposed to be and what I was supposed to be doing. The volunteers are AMAZING. I've never seen anything like it. I have a feeling I'll be back next year. :)

  • Comments: Strong head wind on bike. Cold bike ride, great swim. Okay run. All of my training paid off. Had a much better run, ran more than walked as compared to last year. Nutrition was spot on.
