  • Comments: Great race and lots of fun. We had over 20 people form our group in Greensboro. 2nd year in a row where temps got up to 90 and above. Would suggest starting race at 7:00 am instead of 8:00 Cut 5 minutes from last years time

  • Comments: This is one of my favorite races. They put 4 water stations on a 1.5 mile run loop because of the heat! Talk about good planning. Also, it is not even 7pm on Sat and the results are up. My FSSEries sprint race results were posted at noon on the Monday after the race. I am sooo much more impressed with Setup Events than FSSeries. But that is an aside. The lake is pretty, its not too far from home, the bike is on good roads and challenging enough and the run is, well, it is what it is. I strongly recommend this race. Very well organized and the ladies from the church who help out are awesome- so sweet and chatty and appreciative of us coming out. I had a great time talking to several of them...such nice people. And the guy who did the national anthem on the sax was SO good. It was very moving. Overall I improved my time, despite the conditions, from 2 years ago by about 2.5 or 3 mins. That's not fantastic but not terrible either. My placing in my age group went from 14 out of 52 to

  • Comments: the thing that slowed me down the most on race day is the fact that I'm absolutely FORBIDDEN to run. I suffered a calf strain earlier in the month, and probably should've dropped out all together. It was only because it was too late for a refund that I decided to go ahead w/ the race. I was originally gonna just do the swim and bike and just take the DNF... but decided that just wasn't in me. I walked the entire run portion instead. I felt like a total tool, but I did it... its better than taking a DNF!

  • Comments: I do enjoy this race and have done it all 6 years they've held it. Just disappointed in how the run went. I used to be able to gut out a 7 minute mile pretty easily. This year, the garmin showed me over 8 minutes for all of them. Ah well. I'm doing this for fun.

  • Comments: Awesome race as usual. Lots of volunteers, good food great site for a race. My buddy the swim wizard of BOZ showed up and I got to hang out with him. It was SOO good to see Jeff and catch up. This has always been one of my favorite races because of the turnout of people I don't get to see alot of but who mean alot to me. If it weren't for tri's I would not know Jeff or lots of other people I have been blessed to meet. What an awesome sport!

  • Comments: This is a well run race, as most are by Setup. While I finishd pretty well and raced as hard as I could, I just never felt like I had it all together. The swim took a minute longer than last year, although that could have been a course issue. The bike ride was 20 seconds longer than last year. The run was about a minute faster than last year. Overall was about a minute slower, same AG rank and moved up 2 on the OA rank.

  • Comments: I gave this race a 4 because now I think the WL Half is the best race I have done. However, this race is at least a 4.5. The event is organized so well and is in such a good location it is hard to beat. The best thing about it is I get to see lots of my friends I don't see much of over the year. Jeff and Denise Bostic were there as well as so many of the Triad Tri Team. It kicks my butt but I do love this race!

  • Comments: Great race with a lot of athletes. People flock to this race because the bike is rolling to flat which leaves a guy like me praying for some climbs!

  • Comments: Best part of this race by far was seeing all the BT friends and local athletes that I train with. I met Ernie-ern for the first time and he looked great out there too! Grats Ernie!!!! All you BT folks rock! Wifey kicked some ass out there. I'm soooooooooooo very proud of her. Solid swim, great bike for her (we're still working on the run aren't we sweetie?) The only thing missing was the wild wonder twin..err...G8RSAX. *smile* Next stop....Florida!!!!

  • Comments: It's probably not good to choose a moderate difficulty course for a first tri, but my daughter and son-in-law were doing this one. Although I didn't come in last in any of the races or transitions, my over-all time was last...or as my daughter says, last of those who entered. I'm really glad I made this effort and thankful for all I've been able to learn through BT. Now I am ready to keep gaining in my training and losing in my weight. I put a capsaicin patch on my strained muscle and the day after the tri I'm a little tired but with no sore muscles. I appreciated the encouraging words from so many volunteers--they all did a great job. I put "4" for the race because of the spectators on the running course despite the announcer asking them to stay out of the way. I think this may be changed next year. My funniest memory will be of my telling a young boy at the 3/4 mile run station I wanted water for my head and he dumped the cup on me! That made me laugh and carried me up the next hill.

  • Comments: Again, this race is very special to me. Its the race that got me off of the Lazyboy and opened my eyes to the world of triathlon. In 2 weeks will be my 2 year anniversary of that moment when I decided to change things up. I always love going back to those first couple of workouts and see how painful the first couple of weeks were and how short the distances were and how slow the first couple of workouts were. Thanks to all of you out there that have been so supportive as well. Its races like this that make me realize what a great family I have as well as a great group of friends out there in BT land that I have too.
