  • Comments: Great job by DAR bring this race back after cancellation last year. Like the new bike course for the sprint. This is a tough race.

  • Comments: Great job, again, by Dallas Athletes Racing. I think I will forever associate triathlon with the voice of Tom Ryan, who does the pre-race shtick and the finish line announcing at DAR races, and does it with flair and gusto.

  • Comments: Great event for DAR, my second year in a row doing this; they just do a great job and bring a really fun "let's celebrate life and living" vibe to their events. Pretty accommodating too. TSW asked the announcer if he could give me a shout out for this being my 50th triathlon, and he was happy to do it. Even added a comical bit about TSW looking for me to repay her for all of the race fees over the years.

  • Comments: Great job by DAR again, they really put on an awesome event. Wanted to point out that the reason the start wasn't on time is because they moved the swim buoys for the longer races in closer in order to eliminate the chop that was in play further out from the beach. It meant the longer distance swimmers had to do three loops including runs across the beach, but I bet they were all a little easier.

  • Comments: I-35 was shut down so all the waves were late but it actually worked out because it let the sun come out and warm us up a little bit.

  • Comments: Really great race put on by the Dallas Athlete's Association. Well organized and would do it again in a heart beat. Having the Texas Parks Department host was also a nice touch as it generated income for the Parks Department.

  • Comments: I absolutely love the beach start and the sandbar is not anything you normally see. I also absolutely love the Sprint run which is completely in the park and almost completely shaded. I'm not a huge fan of the roads. Not completely DA's fault as the road maintenance there is kinda shaky. I'd race the sprint and probably the Oly here as a fun race, but wouldn't ever race an "A" race or any long course here.

  • Comments: Actually, the run wasn't the part that sucked. It was the bike that ruined the run. My last tri was back in September and I haven't done ANY cycling since then. I finally got a new, REAL road bike last month and have only gone out about 4 times on it. Need to do more cycling before my next race.

  • Comments: This was a pretty good race. On race day, things ran smoothly and some of the events even started early. Lots of good volunteers and great post-race stuff. My only complaint is the packet pickup. I had to drive to Plano to pick up my packet Saturday and then to the race site (where I stayed) north of Denton. Seemed silly to have packet pickup the day before the race so far away.

  • Comments: Roads were hillier than I normally ride and the run was also. Maybe I need to run some hills more. Ride was rough. I am not sure if I would do another chip seal road race for a while. Overall I actually had fun. I was very dissapointed in my swim. But there is always another race to make up for it.

  • Comments: The only reazon I cannot give Dallas Athletes a glowing report is the fact that I noticed the food and water at the finish run out before all the athletes were done. I couldn't find a water bottle anywhere for my friend when she finished, and I really searched. She found a jug and cups but it's just not the same as the fabulous water bottles usually handed out in the finish shoot. The venue was lovely, the course was great. Hanging out afterward under the trees was great and there was plenty of space to be comfotable, socialize and cool down right by the water. I hope they have this race here again next year.

  • Comments: Only thing that irritated me for how the race was run was that there were no finisher medals. I know it's a little thing, but for my first tri it would have been nice just to have that trinket to show around.

  • Comments: Avg HR 163 Max HR 188 Learned a lot from this race. Definitely saw an improvement over my first race. Now I need to take all this info forward and continue to improve. From a purely silly standpoint I wish I had raced as an age grouper instead of an Athena. Came in DFL for the Athenas....would have been 10th out of 17 in my age group. Live and learn.
