  • Comments: This was a fantastic race and it was very well run. I will be back next year and the years after. My only gripe is the road-raged monster truck on the course. You could tell some of the locals were pissed that there was a bike race on their streets.

  • Comments: This was a good, well run race. I would not consider it too be too hard of an event based on my limited experience. Both the bike and run were on flat ground and the swim was in a protected harbor with no waves to contend with. However, I pushed harder in the swim, set a good pace on the bike and pushed sufficiently hard on the run to make it a challenge. I will be back next year!

  • Comments: Very good well organized race. great scenery around the lake. Learned some lessons about bike handling, and paying attention to signs. I deserved to be DQ'd. I was unsafe and could have hurt myself. Descent back from clean air into thick brown clouds of inland empire was obscene. Swim distance was way shorter than advertised. Tough sprint because of the hilly bike, hilly run, even hilly transition along with 5000 ft of altitude. Apparently some people really sucked wind due to the elev.

  • Comments: I definitly need to train better / smarter and plan ahead, e.g., if the triathlon is going to be hilly, then I need to train in the hills, if its in a cold lake, then need to get in the cold water. Elevation of 5200 was killer. Overall, it was a beautiful day and a fun time.

  • Comments: Post race activities only really good for people staying at resort. Had to wait until evening for free concert. Free Alcoholic drink voucher not very attractive since I had a long drive home. I guess It would be great if I was staying weekend. One big problem no convenient restrooms. No where to go during race. had to walk up steep hill to use restroom in resort or go into nearby McDonalds

  • Comments: This race was mentally hard for me on a bunch of different levels. First was my division. I really didn't want to be a Clydesdale. I was cruising around at 190 pounds so that wasn't an option. Then before I registered I weighed myself. 198. I know that wasn't right because I weighed 190 on Friday. I had a 3 hour swim Friday night and weighed 188 after. I had a 2 hour bike on Saturday. But when I weighed myself on Monday morning I was 198. I thought I was just retaining water but when I weighed in on Tuesday, 198. By Thursday morning I was back to 190 again. What do I do. Tell the RD? I dunno. I was going to change back into my AG, but 2 of the fastest guys I know would be in my AG. I thought, this would be the only way I would ever place. Then I figured if I won, I wouldn't except. That would suck. This pretty much consumed all of my thoughts prerace. I wanted to win, but not like this. So, once I knew I was out of the medals I was relieved, but now all I could think of is that I am 10+
