  • Comments: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/7101711715 Very, very well run event. Mark Wilson and his wife Tonia have done such a great job with this race that I'd say it's one of the best, more organized, well run, well supported, challenging races that I've ever done. Post race was even better. Love my wife for always giving me ultimate support. She is a fantastic photographer also. My many friends on BT/strava/slowtwitch give me amazing encouragement as well and I am thankful for that. Bobby was there in spirit with me, as usual.

  • Comments: Could have used more water on the run, but overall, this is a well run race. Nice finisher medal (didnt have these in past 2 years), and very happy to place in my age group - got a hat and water bottle! I like the fact that they recognize top 3 and the age groups are in 5 yr increments. This is my 3rd year and I will keep coming back. I would prefer going back to a lighter (more refreshing) beer, but the fact that they serve beer at all is just great!

  • Comments: I like this race and the Olympic distance. The lake is beautiful and the bike and run courses are good. Special thanks to volunteers for helping in the rain. Very happy they replaced last year's "1 beer" policy (and selection of a heavier beer) with a few tubs of ice cold cans of Bud Light - much more refreshing - and I could have 2!!! Still need to work on the food - Peach Pie is not a great post race food (IMHO).

  • Comments: This is a great race. The course scares a lot of people away, so you tend to get a very competitive field of racers. Its challenging and rewarding to get it done! The post race food and beer is always a plus too! I was 3/7 in my AG, but got the second place award due to the number 1 being the first women overall. Pretty tough competition indeed!

  • Comments: The race was well organized and well staffed. The post race was a little lacking. The race had advertised more substantial food than was offered. There was, however, free Sam Adams. That made up for the lack of food in my mind :)

  • Comments: My first road tri this year and first olympic this year. I had a 2;30-2:45 projected window and I hit the back end of it so I'm ok with it all. Next year, work on my weakness and come back for a faster time and lower number in the place column.

  • Comments: OBVIOUSLY i got my ass kicked, but still really glad i did the race. Was curious to try out an Oly and get my feet wet in it. My lack of swimming and biking experience was more evident on this much tougher course than it was on the mossman tri, where i was able to push through. It's all good, though. I need a good kick in the ass to motivate me through the off-season. Now i'm gonna focus on my AIDS ride in september, and i'm totally inspired to do the Hartford marathon in October.

  • Comments: Overall, it was a good day for the most part, with a decent swim and an improved bike split. I give it a B- grade. I am really disappointed in myself, though, for showing such mental weakness on the run. It just shows my inexperience with racing. I need to learn to deal better when the going gets tough. I'll be back next year, and the next year, until I achieve the finish that is in my potential.

  • Comments: Another impressive event by Hartford Marathon Foundation. This race does not have a large field of competitors because the course is notoriously difficult. Those who do show up are quite competitive. Its a tough race and a tough field. If you can hang with these people, you've done alright. I feel like I did alright. I will have to go back in a couple of years and prove that I can do better.

  • Comments: This is a well organized race with lots of great volunteers. The course is tough on both the bike and run. The swim in the lake is really nice, warm and doesn't taste bad at all, something I'm kind of sensitive to. It doesn't have a large field, only around 140-150. I suspect the reputation for hills keeps people away but it is really a great race with great food and great atmosphere. The people that do show up are strong athletes. If you expect to place in your AG, you had best train hard on the hills well prior to this race.
