  • Comments: I'd love to do this race again. I would want to cut about 20 minutes off my time by next year. Which I think I can do. I somehow did not push myself hard enough and I don't know why. I need to work on pacing a bit more.

  • Comments: The race environment was awesome. It was a relaxed atmosphere, and was quite fun. Muscle Milk was really the only vendor, so not much in the way of post race activities. Not sure if that's normal or I expected too much, but was really quite limited. Loved the race, had a great time, and hopefully my first in a long line of tris!

  • Comments: As a tuneup race, I felt my overall fitness level is better than I thought it would be having just started my official training plan just this past month after taking some time off. I feel my workouts for my training have been somewhat consistent despite the holiday season in full swing and with me going out of town for a few days during Thanksgiving weekend. My biggest struggle and an ongoing challenge is nutrition. I have not always selected the best food options and though I make efforts to eat healthier, I understand having a clean diet and not overeating will allow me to shed these pounds and be lighter for my first olympic triathlon race in March. This time around, I can confidently say I will finish the oly, but try to compete to have a finish time under 3 hours!

  • Comments: I love the Anthem races. The bike is 3 loops of fun rolling hills. The run is one loop with a long, steady climb. There is always eye candy. Fun weekend.

  • Comments: High entry fee for a sprint ($65), weak goodie bag, cold weather, pool swim, and the last drink station not being supported were negatives to this race. Facilities were nice and parking was plentiful and close to the TA. Not a big fan of pool swim tri's, so I probably will not participate in this race again. My wife thought this race was the best from a spectator standpoint because the parking was close to the race, she could see the swim and the transition area. Overall, I am happy with the finish time which is a sprint PR and ~10min faster than my last PR in 2006. The coaching and training from Sonic Fitness has made a huge difference - Thanks!

  • Comments: I like this race. The Anthem Community Center is nice, but the staff acts like triathletes have the plague. I'm sure they have a business to run, but it's just a bit odd the way they make you sign in to watch the race (after you just ran it) and use a separate door.

  • Comments: Had a blast with the Club out there. Really enjoy hanging out with my peeps! I'm amazed how good of friends we've all become in such a short time. Joining the East Side Cool Kids Triathlon Club is one of my best decisions. Can't wait till the next event!

  • Comments: Had a great time. I can't take a race too seriously when I haven't done my part to get in shape and in a position to perform at my "A" game level. For this reason the pressure was off and I really had a great time. Except for the run I really felt that the rest of the race was done near my potential level.

  • Comments: I liked this race. The course was different from the reverse tri in september. I really wasn't sure if I wanted to do this race but I'm glad I did- it was a great end to the '07 season and great to see my friends compete. • Comments: Despite what my comments listed above may suggest. I enjoyed myself out there. I enjoy competing against myself and the sharing in the experience with others. It was great to be out there with Aaron during his first race. He did a great job. It was great to have the support of Chris, Matt, Jerry's wife and Zach's GF during the race. Good to see the ESCKTC members competing: Zach, Woz, Jerry, Aaron, Sally and Tanya. It looks like Sally won the the Women's race. I am now the owner of the Pink Crocs. I am not sure If I won them or lost them, but regardless they are mine for now. There is a pic of the exchange ceremony posted under the Arizona forum

  • Comments: Great local race. Well put on and lots of instruction so you always knew where you needed to be and what you needed to do. The bike in and out transition area was a bit scary with speed bumps and lots of turns but other than that a fantastic race.

  • Comments: I have said it before, and I will say it again....Yes, Anthem is a little sprint race, and people can poo-poo it all they want, but it is challenging. Most of the Tri Family Racing races are nice a flat and simple. Super fast. Anthem is NOT flat on the bike OR the run, and always pushes your mental capability. Throw in the cold, wind and spitting rain, and it gets really fun! Last year this race kicked my butt. I had a great swim, and then tanked on the bike and run due to the hills. I think it was only my 3rd or 4th tri ever, and everything I had done up to that point was flat. I wanted to do this race again to improve on my times, and kick ITS butt. The bike this year was a mile longer and the run was 1/2 mile longer, so my overall time is like a minute slower. My swim was the same, but the difference was this year I seeded myself with the 8min people instead of the 12 min people, and that helped tremendously. I was more "in" with people of similar abilities through out the

  • Comments: It's a nice race, I'd like the swim a little more organized, need to get people in the right locations on the swim. The course isn't too difficult but I think I could easily do better next time and continue to improve there. Not completely flat, which is nice, but not terribly hilly either. I should have entered the Clydesdales! I would have won that! Oh well. My placements exclude the tope 3 finishers, otherwise I'd be 28th/7th.
