  • Comments: Great race but bring the bug spray, the gnats were out in force biting hard. It was awesome representing AAA tri team, Malone coaching, and the US Navy. I won military division but also would have taken the win in 35-39 year old age group; that was special to me because our age group has a special friendly rivalry. I have never beat both Stephen Shenal and Steven Bradley so it really made the training feel worth it. USAT scored the race as 85.502 for me, new record high! Also, this qualified me for 2015 age group nationals which I most likely will not be able to attend.

  • Comments: Best race of my season. I love the special military division. Only wish the course was properly marked on the bike and run. For me the difference in extra bike length and shortened run length comes out dead even (+.6 mile bike and -.2 mile run). Setup events always does great. Military trophy is amazing! BRING BUG SPRAY IF YOU ARE STAYING FOR THE AWARDS CEREMONY, THE GNATS WILL EAT YOU ALIVE.

  • Comments: Being that this is a very flat course I think the distance should be greater. I hadn't even warmed up before we were hopping off the bike. (It was a little cold that day-but still,,a longer ride would be desirable.)

  • Comments: This was a great race, we did not have the pool issues that many people had described in the past. I loved racing as the US Navy on Marine Corps base. The trophies for the military division are unparalleled. This is a fantastic event and a must do for military personnel. I'll be back next year!

  • Comments: Adequate race. Completed w/o any training per se. Am off statin of Lipitor b/c it was killing me during my training and racing. Hope to be able to keep my triglcerides down, keep B/P in check and keep sugars out of my diet. Looking forward to getting stronger and feeling better during races.

  • Comments: It was fun!!! Beautiful day in Parris Island, pretty impressive place! The combat pool is spectacular and huge!!! The swim wasn't as chaotic as I expected. I was able to overtake without a problem. Slow T1 but not bad. A little deviation on the bike, (lack of signs) but not big deal. I think I averaged about 20.5 MPH, lots of room for improvement. The roads are pretty rough, I'm glad I had my clinchers. Quick T2 I sucked a little less on the run this time, but still, dragging my big rear to the finish line...... Felt great and, nice event lots of great people, just another reason to keep doing this. Don't have split times yet, total time was 1:08:22 about 114 overall out of almost 500. I friend felt from his bike and dislocated his shoulder. Made me realize that just to be able to participate and cross the finish line in one piece, it's already a win... Good luck to all on your first race! Looking forward to reading your experiences.

  • Comments: This could have been the most unlucky day of my entire life. Not the worst...just the most unlucky. Let me start at the night before the race. Figured I'd make a couple changes to my bike. One of these changes was to take off my old speedometer which was held on by a couple zip ties. I was being very careful trying not to scratch the frame, taking the cut really slow. It finally popped off and somehow I sliced the sh!t out out my middle finger. It was a nasty cut, I'm not sure if I should have gotten stitches or not. Took at least half an hour to stop bleeding. Anyhow, on to race day. I woke up at 4:00. On the road (3 hour drive) by 4:30. I should be getting there just as registration opens. At around 5:30, stopped and got gas. I arrived to Beaufort just before 7:00 which is 10 miles from the race sight. At this point I realize that I don't know where my wallet is. I pulled over to look for it. Opened my door and searched the whole car. Nothing. Figured I must have

  • Comments: After a few DQs, I was 23rd OA out of 496 and 3rd in my age group. So I moved up about 40 spots over all and 9 AG spots in a much bigger field. Coolio. I love PI...and it's pretty cool to be getting older but to still be getting significantly faster.

  • Comments: This is a great race! Set Up Events did a great job organizing, and it is really nice of the Marines to let us do it in that location, which is really cool. My dad was at Parris Island in the 1950s and we got to ride around the base afterwards, so he really enjoyed it too. Now if I can just convince him to do a triathlon ...

  • Comments: I had a blast! A little disappointed with the post race food..there was none! I started at the end of the swim since I was in the novice division so I was one of the last to finish...I wasnt super hungry but a a little. That was minor to me as everything else was awesome, simply awesome. Great venue, great event, awesome athletes all over the place. Everyone was very nice. I gave it my all and have already searched out my next event.....thanks to BT for all the info....big, big help.
