  • Comments: This is a very low key event. It is ran very much like a trail or ultra event. No swag, small medal, no raffles, no goodie bag, but this is not a race that you would do for those things anyway. It is a great race for a well trained beginner and someone who wants to do a good fitness test at the start of the season. I might do this again next year.

  • Comments: Although this was my first race ever I would say i'm addicted and looking forward to getting in another race soon. My next is in July and looking to train for it after a day off to rest from the Sprint yesterday.

  • Comments: Fun and easy race. In hindsight, the racing in the rain was a good learning experience--from the logistical perspective to the actually racing in the rain.

  • Comments: This was my second Triathlon so I do not have a lot to compare but I thought the overall organization was excellent. The volunteers were fantastic and enthusiastic. Great Job!

  • Comments: I love this race! It's a gorgeous area and the bike route is by far the prettiest I've seen in a race. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to someone who is brand new to tris or racing, since it's a longer-than-typical sprint and the hilly course makes it somewhat challenging. But it's a super friendly event and very well organized, and I really appreciated the non-competitive atmosphere. On a personal note, this race made me realize just how not-typicaly the Stanford tri was for me, and thank God for that. The Stanford race -- my first full tri -- was pretty much a disaster, and I've wondered ever since then if I maybe wasn't really meant for tris, or if I'd just had a lousy day. The Napa race, while obviously not a great one for me, made me realize that I really can do OK at this, and that something obviously threw me off my game at Stanford. I'm guessing that the water conditions -- lots of racers were talking afterwards about how choppy the bay had been and how much water they'd swallowed

  • Comments: So, the best part of all this was that I got to race with a 50 year old woman (Doreen) who not only won her age group, but was an absolute joy to race with. Looking back, we kept each other within sight from when we first racked our bikes pre-race, all the way to the finish. I was so excited for her as this was her first AG win... and she won her age group by 15+ minutes! We exchanged emails and plan on doing this same event next year... which now means I have to train hard or she will kick my arse!! I couldn't have asked for a better first triathlon experience. The people were great, the area is beautiful, and the event was run very well. I will be back to chase my rabbit, Doreen!

  • Comments: It was a fun race. I did beat my time from last year Oct. (even with the <.5mile swim). The bike I felt really strong but I know I can still improve and the Run I definately can improve. Next time I definately will be under the 2hour mark!!!

  • Comments: as much as it sounds like i was miserable, i still had a blast. it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves, and some great athletes. the dude that won it was at the run turnaround, with 2 miles to go, when i passed him on the bike!!! he was a stud, the girl right behind him was amazingly strong as well. my "coach" ended up taking 13th overall, and 3rd in our agegroup. we had a good group of people up there from the club and that made it alot better of a time for me.

  • Comments: For a first time, or just a good time, this Napa Valley Sprint is just the ticket. It's pretty low key, and everyone is nice and friendly.
