  • Comments: The Redman has a well deserved reputation for a great race and incredible volunteers. The race lived up to its reputation. The event is very well organized, well staffed, officiated properly and the most incredible volunteers! If you are looking for a great event you need to put this race on your calendar!!

  • Comments: Redman puts on a top notch race. Only issue I have is with the lack of lights during the run.

  • Comments: This was the most organized races I have EVER attended. VERY well run. The course is flat and fun. My family said it was awesome from a spectator point of view. They saw me many times and they could get close to the competitors. They said they liked it better than other races attended.

  • Comments: This race was so well run, and everyone from the staff, volunteers, and other races made you feel not just welcome, but they were glad you were there. One of the staff members sat by me at the finish to make sure I was ok, got me a bunch of stuff (blanket, drinks, etc) and listened to me go on about my race, which in hindsight had to be very boring for him. Great first full distance race.

  • Comments: Race was good. Didn't like the road conditions and traffic control. Volunteers were awesome and the informal Q & A sessions on Facebook were excellent.

  • Comments: Well run, enthusiastic event, great volunteers, responsive staff and adequate setting. The course is potentially a very fast one depending on conditions-the big variable this time of year would be wind, mostly, and it is hard to predict the temperatures.

  • Comments: An extremely well run event. The roads for the bike course are very rough, but that is out of their control. I would highly suggest this race.

  • Comments: This is a really solid race. Better swag, equal support, and less attitude than the three past "official" 1/2 IM events I've done. Plus the price is a bargain compared to the official IM stuff... we look dopey enough for doing these things in the first place, to drop $700 just to sign up is just plain stupid.

  • Comments: I would do Redman again, but I'd do the 70.3. My next IM will be mDot. I wanna hear "Ray Samford, you are an IRONMAN!" "Ray Samford you are a finisher of the Redman Irondistance Triathlon", just doesn't have the same magic.

  • Comments: Race volunteers, director, and course were great. The rain sucked but what can you do. Many volunteers were experienced triathletes so they were even more awesome. Wish more spectators would have stayed off the run course near the turnaround.

  • Comments: If you want to do an iron distance race and don't need a bunch of hoopla and glitz, this is a very good race. Well organized, great staff and volunteers, and good course (other than some rough spots on bike course). Lower cost, don't have to get there as early, normal transition, less crowded... great way to just get out there and do an IM distance race.

  • Comments: I think this was a great choice for me. I raced the HIM the year before, so was comfortable with the course and logistics. I look back at all of the early morning workouts and long solo rides and can be glad of the outcome.

  • Comments: Considering the cost and distance of this race, I cannot argue. The price of an M-dot race is a little steep for my budget currently. And I've already experienced the M-dot hoopla last year at Arizona in April. If you're looking for an "event", then the M-dot is for you. But if you're looking for a quality race, then Redman is a nice way to go.

  • Comments: This was my first 140.6. I did my first triathlon in 1986 and while I did take about a 10-year break...I have probably participated in 40-50 triathlons in my lifetime. never until a couple years ago had I any desire to go 140.6. Not that I didn't think I could do it...I just didn't see the point of it. I was more motivated to try and go faster than longer (somehow that does not sound right). Last year though, admitting to myself I am only getting slower I thought I would give it a shot and discussed it with my wife. While she was not overjoyed to hear that this was something I wanted to do...she supported me and she and the kids were a great support this past summer while i was training! While i enjoyed training (alot) and participating for this event it is not likely I would ever do it again. In fact, I even told my family that this would be it! So I think as far as tris for me...probably sprints and olys is all I am going to make time for in the future. As far as Redman ...I

  • Comments: Volunteers were excellent!!! Everyone I said "I appreciate it" to said "we appreciate you more". They were so helpful! The only bad thing about the weekend was the check in process. It was a little disorgaznized and wound up taking a very long time.

  • Comments: One of the best days of my life. I really liked the day but I loved the journey! Thank you to all the volunteers at Redman for a day I'll never forget. I can't imagine a better race. Thank you Shannon for the countless times you rubbed my legs and feet. We did it together.

  • Comments: This was a great race that I would recommend to anybody, especially first time iron-distance athletes, and those who are looking for a smaller more intimate iron-distance race. There was a lot of personal attention at aid stations, many stations had 15-20 people there to help while only one or 2 runners were going by. This translated into at least 4 people at each aid station to help gather things for you. The workers walked out 50 yards to ask what you want, then yell back to the aid station and they would gather it by the time you got there. Everybody was really nice and I look forward to coming back to this race in the future!!

  • Comments: As far as an Iron Distance non brand I thought it was phoenominal. Excellent race and would like to go back some day to redeem the extra 2-3 hours I spent out there. Had a huge list of what to do differently next time and that started with hiring a coach and giving in to someone elses opinions. Redemption comes exactly 9 months from this race at IM CDA!!

  • Comments: This was just an incredible race. I've never seen better, more enthusiatic, helpful volunteers. They made the race what it was. I don't know if I'll ever do another Ironman, but if I do, I don't know how it could top this experience. Redman really knows how to listen and respond to the needs of the age group athlete.
