  • Comments: I like this venue and I hope it stays popular enough to keep the race going. It is the only local early season HIM and a great tuning race. And despite it being early May, somehow the water temperature stays above 60 degrees. There were a few issues. Bike security, lack of volunteers overall (especially at the run aid stations), and some timing issues. Obviously bike security is huge, and I am sure that will be addressed (well I hope I am sure). They also could be more strategic with the placement of the aid stations, and probably be able to put more manpower there.

  • Comments: Overall it OK. Nice venue and the lake is very clean. Check-in was fine. Volunteers were generally good but not always attentive at intersections on open roads. Post race food (advertised as great) was sparce. Biggest real concern was lack of transition area management/security. My only other triathlons were Philly and Bethany Beach, both of which were awesome so maybe I am grading them too harshly. However, the transition area issues should be fixed.

  • Comments: It was a small race, but I liked it. The bike course could have been better, but they said they had to change it this year and weren't too happy either. The lake was surprisingly warm (62 deg F)considering the cooler weather we had recently. I liked the run course, it wound through trails a bit, on and off pavement. Food was much better than most other races. Had some decent choices. They needed more volunteers to direct on the course, there were some spots that were a little confusing, and to my understanding a few runners went off course.

  • Comments: Overall to those maybe reading this who are contemplating this race, I would reccomend it and may do it again next year. It is a great course for a first HIM and I wish I would have done this one first before Montauk Mightyman last year. To be a little critical, there needed to be more bathrooms near the pavillion, and some of the volunteers (usually the younger ones who were alone) could have been a little more supportive in as far as encouragement. But all in all things went well and I realize its hard for a race to go perfectly. I heard of one story that the police told an aquabiker to go the wrong way. They got the bike mounting signs up late and the race started about 10 min late,,,,,but no biggie as long as you were not that aquabiker, that was a travesty

  • Comments: Post race food was good. Nice salad, pulled chicken, pulled pork, rice. They even had breakfast food for the early birds. I heard a few complaints about the food but I'm not sure where else you'll get this quality of food at a small event. If only they had beer. Hint, hint..... I'm not a huge fan of such a flat course....however, the bike course is really nice. Through the pine barrens with very little traffic and well shaded. The run course is through the camp grounds with about 25% on trails. Well shaded and a really nice run. The lake swim was fantastic. Pretty clear water and a perfect temperature with a full suit. Races and awards were on time. Very well run event.

  • Comments: Decent race...bike ride had lots of traffic on road, and road was not terribly smooth. Food was getting put away when I finished...would be better if they kept it out for everyone. Running course is kind of a maze with two loops.
