  • Comments: Took 6 minutes off my time from last year - 4 minutes off the bike and 2 minutes off the run - also broke through a long time barrier and hit over 20 mph on the ride and under 8:00 min/mi on the run. Also moved up from top half to top third in the AG - awesomeness all around for my 25th endurance event.

  • Comments: Despite the run still felt made some good improvements on the swim and bike, which feel like harder fixes (all about technique) than the run, which is more learning to better gauge hills - 2nd Oly Tri and still squeezed out a top 50% age group finish, so can't complain too much!

  • Comments: The course is beautiful and the race is very fun. The aid stations on the run were plentiful and volunteers were very helpful. One thing I wasn't expecting was that I wasn't allowed to enter transition prior to getting body marked or putting my number on the bike. My typical process is to show up with my transition bag packed with all my gear (including numbers in it) and then prep inside transition ending in body marking. The volunteers literally WOULD NOT let me even put my bag down in transition area to get my number out. I had to drop all my stuff in body marking, find my number, put it on the bike, get body marked, then pick everything up before I could get into the transition area. Also, post-race food was terrible. I am a slower racer, but by the time I got back, packed, and ready to eat, all that was left was rolls and Chex Mix. I don't know if they had more food initially and I just missed my chance, but I was hoping for at least a sandwich or something!

  • Comments: I did meet my goal of beating my prior finish times - beat last year by 14 seconds, and 2010 by 8 seconds, so that is an accomplishment of my goal! However my split times are still very close to the same, the transitions are the most notable differences. Missed 2nd place by :50 seconds, and felt that if I had pushed harder on the bike and 2nd run I could have made that up - I really need to think about this race in the future, because each of the last 3 years my time at Blue Lkae is notably improving, while this race seems much less so.

  • Comments: Was surprised that my finish time was :45 slower than last year, when in comparison I was 9 minutes faster at Blue Lake! The first run was faster this time, and the 2nd run and bike were a few seconds slower. Transitions were better. The bike was a surprise as I felt faster this time, and better on the corners and descents. One theory is that because of the gearing on this racing wheel casette vs. last years may have put me a bit slower. This course is more about handling than just holding good aero form. I still got a 2nd place age-group finish, and some good assurance from a fellow triathlete that I still had a good race and this gives me a good goal for next year! Still a great day and overall a great multisport season.

  • Comments: Great event on challenging coarse. I have not been training long or hard enough yet to do this race well. Still need to loose about 15 pounds and improve conditioning. Don't take Hagg Lake lightly.

  • Comments: Overall I was pretty happy with this race - ranked 7 of 10 in masters, and missed placing in top 10 overall males by 90 seconds, which was all lost on the run This was by far the toughest course, but the day after didn't feel totally sore or spent - maybe it means could have pushed harder but also feels like my fitness continues to improve Race Center scoring points - 80.12 Total Points for 2010 season - 239.74 - this would have put me at the 5th slot amongst the 2009 Oly Du rankings Do feel like next year can have a better performance, just knowing the course helps

  • Comments: USAT did a HORRIBLE job of timing, and the post-race awards ceremony drug on forever, and the post-race dinner was pathetic! The food was good, but not nearly enough (one serving only) and the wine was deplorable! White zin, chablis, and burgundy. They did have good Oregon microbrew, so that was at least one good decision made.
