  • Comments: I was in the best shape I've ever been in, and much more prepared for this Ironman than the last 2. Yet between the heat, humidity and who knows what other factors, I got my first DNF ever. It's really hard emotionally when you train and prepare all those countless hours for one race, and then you don't even finish. Sure I can say I tried my best, or that I made it 138 of the 144 miles. But in the end, I didn't finish. But I figure I have 2 options. I can either wallow in it, or I can move on. In the end, crossing that finish line doesn't define me. It doesn't make or break me. It's just part of life. Sure it's disappointing, but there will be other races, and I'll use the DNF as motivation for the next one.

  • Comments: Despite not having the day I wanted, I really enjoyed this race. The venue was great, a very cool city. Bike course was pretty and super fast without being flat to the point of boring. Run course was challenging, but one I was looking forward to take on. I will have to come back one year and hopefully get to enjoy the down stream swim.

  • Comments: The finish line was lackluster compared to IMMT and IMLP. However, IMCHOO has some of the best volunteers and spectators I've ever had in a race.

  • Comments: This was the second year at Chattanooga and I was glad to have gone back. I doubt I'll be back since I have done it twice but it really is an incredible venue. The beauty on the course is stunning. God surely knew what He was doing when he placed his hand on Chatty.

  • Comments: I loved Ironman Chattanooga. The city was awesome. The course is cool. Yes, the swim is "easy" and the bike is "not hard", but the run is hell. There are no "easy" 140 mile races, and this is 144.6 miles. The volunteers were great, and everything was done really well. No complaints about the race at all.

  • Comments: Very well organized, tons of drink stops on both bike and run. I would like to see a better athlete tracking system in place, where you could have a text sent when I cross a timing mat, etc. I was so excited to finish and see family that I totallymissed the post race food. I was too slow to leave, shower, and come back and watch the finish like I had wanted to. Overall, a great experience, one that I will do again.

  • Comments: A great race experience again. I was able to meet with an accidental friend I met on FB while preparing for IMLOU last season and I could put a voice to a face. It was also great teat Laiken was able to see this event and experience firsthand what something like this can be like on both myself and her mother. I have a feeling she will use this type of event for inspiration in the future.

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: 97 degrees, 87 percent humidity, heat index 110+. Over 600 hundred DNFs due to heat. Took it very easy to recover quicker for IMFL in five weeks. Felt very good off bike, after race and the following day.

  • Comments: I love the Chattanooga area! Lots of good restaurants and a ton to do if you have little ones! Its' a fun town! I don't like that special needs don't get returned, and the overcrowded bike. The run is a whopper. It was made extra special because it was a focus race for Endurance Nation, my online team and coaching, and a big group of Michiganders made the trip. Even though my race was a PW, it is always a blast to share the day with so many friends and teammates. It is the reason I do what I do!

  • Comments: For a first year race, this was fantastic! Yes, the bike course was 116 miles vs. 112, but the venue, course and volunteers were amazing! Looking forward to some downtime, figuring out my hip issue and getting stronger and more flexible in the offseason.

  • Comments: Fully satisfied with my first full IM. I was very concerned with how this would turn out... since registering I moved into a new position at work and my training plan was decimated. I had every intention of following the Fink Competitive Plan, but that idea fell apart and I sort of cobbled together my own "plan" which saw me do a total of 6 rides of 75 or more miles with none in the 100's. My longest run since my spring marathon was about 15 miles, and since January I only swam about 38K meters. Not ideal IM training at all. Although I think that may have helped in that my mindset was to finish and have fun, so I really wasn't stressed at all leading up to the race. Additionally the weather conditions were perfect for the race, that certainly helped. The race itself was awesome, as was the 'Noog. The city and its residents were gracious hosts and I know that this race will be a favorite to many.

  • Comments: I can't wait to do this race again. There are talks to change the bike course. I hope it stays the same. Chattanooga and Georgia really came out for this and made it incredible. Ironman volunteers are amazing.

  • Comments: I wasn't sure about the bike course after riding it alone in August, but it was a lot better w/ the other racers and lots of spectators. While the run was tough I actually liked the hills just to break things up and make it a bit tougher. Definitely can't complain about a swim as fast as that.. good bit of current to help out.

  • Comments: This is a great race. Chattanooga is a great town, perfect for a race like this. The swim is fast and calm, the bike is challenging, but fast, and the run is tough, but runners get tons of support. I can't recommend this race enough!
