  • Comments: Much improved race venue, stopped doing this race a few years ago because of the bike course but it is really great now, Delmo does a great job organizing and now the course and after race activities are first rate, good race for 1st timers

  • Comments: Delmo Sports really does put on good races. The race director is fun with it, gives out a lot of prizes, and everything is just handled very well. The race did start a half hour late which was a wee bit annoying but there's nothing that can be done about that. It was clear they were trying their best to clear the course and get it going. Heard good about this company and it was indeed great. Will definitely be signing up for all three of their races next season.

  • Comments: Overall pretty disappointing performance after some better races before. Liked the organizers, liked the race atmosphere and great post race food, but, I did not like the course overall, ocean swim out instead of parallel, bike course way too crowded (and could not open it up) and 1.5 miles on the beach run and onto boardwalk was not my preference

  • Comments: This race if phenomenal in the amount of attention to detail and personalization that is spread throughout it. The post race breakfast buffet is awesome as well.

  • Comments: Very good course - do it again! Accomplished exactly what I wanted to in my first triathalon, with no catastrophes, and felt relatively in control except in swim, which was very chaotic.

  • Comments: Unique experience. Small, relatively well run. Best post-race food spread ever. Hard event. OWS in ocean, plus beach run was quite difficult. They ran out of water at the finish line. I hate that. Finished sore but ok. Then, after about 30 min of idle time, the WORST headache set in. Took a nap at Kates. Then took Advil and sat still another couple hrs before making the drive back. Napped at home, then went to bed at 7pm and slept 12 hrs. Holy crap! Next day I have general soreness plus some specific spots in shoulders, knees, butt. I'm sure Friday night's speed work didn't help me feel groovy for that sand run! Anyway, would recommend this event again as a casual challenge. Only $75 to register, plus staying at Kate's place in Avalon made the whole thing really cute and enjoyable.

  • Comments: Overall a good race. I was spent at the end and felt I left everything on the race course. I was shocked to see I finished 86 out of 416, I couldn't be happier with my place. This was one of those races where you have to roll with the punches, and I felt I did my best, I didn't quit and kept moving forward. It was definitly a challenge. I will do this race again next year and hope there is still a swim!

  • Comments: I still love this race! As much as the beach run kicks my butt everyyear it is by far one of the most challenging races that someone can sign up for (although I hear Black Bear by CGI is pretty difficult too).

  • Comments: The race was really well put together. Steven the race director did a great job in the duathlon I ran in April so I knew it would be great this year. After reading some of the RR's from last year I was worried it wasn't going to be good. There were bouys on the swim and the course was well marked. TONS of volunteers (thank you so much) and overall it was a great race. I just wish my swim wasn't so bad or else this probably would have been a happier race report.

  • Comments: Of all the races I've done in the past two years - I rank this one just below NJ State on the basis that the course and conditions are always changing. This race is really the toughest race that I've done so far. Maybe not this year's race but last year's was really the hardest race I entered. Overall I finished this race faster than I did Avalon Islandman too. I was happy about that. Total time for 2006 - 1:31:52 Time for this year 2007 - 1:13:28 Almost 19 minutes faster than my time last year.

  • Comments: The following was sent by the RD to participants after the race: "Due to the "unusual high tide," the timing mats getting wet, and the timing van sinking in the ocean, some of the results are not quite right....All in all, besides the horrible water conditions, the high-tide-soft-sand run, the sprinkler system wetting down the bike course, the PA system not working inside the tent, the results not getting posted and having to mail out the awards" I'd hate to pay for this race next year, but its personal now...I'll prob do the race again, and next time it's payback time!!!

  • Comments: Still took second in my AG, even with the tough conditions. I'm really glad I got over the hump of swimming in the ocean. If I could take on those waves, I could take on other ocean swims. It was nice racing with Tim again. I love that we share these events. I just wish he didn't have to take that spill!

  • Comments: I liked this race. All the people were really nice and helpful. Stephen the race director was awesome. They only served water, and there were only 2 aid stations. The second drink station on the last portion of the run was unmanned and had no water left. That was disappointing as my mouth was getting really dry at that point. The post race festivities were weird. The food was not that great, it was basically breakfast food and some muffins. The awards were given out in random fashion as in the guy would literally pick someone out of the crowd and give out free stuff. They were taking forever to tabulate results so my bro and I decided to just leave and beat the traffic rush. The race was fun though and it was a real learning experience. It was very challenging but I don't think it was beyond my abilities in any way. The swim was definitely really hard and I wasn't prepared for it in any way, but the rest of the race was just fine. The mistakes and areas for improvement were

  • Comments: Always a fun race. It's great to swim in the ocean(unpredicable conditions) & run on the beach, this is what makes this event unique.
