  • Comments: This race rocked. The race director was enthusiastic. The volunteers were plenty. Lots of aid stations. Lots of food on course. A great fun course. The different start/finish was cool. Bike course wasn't a boring two looper. The run was gorgous. A real shame this is not being held next year, I do hope they bring it back. Never been to an M-Dot so can't really compare, but it was fun. The award ceremony was nice, good breakfast.

  • Comments: I had a great time despite the three flats on the course. I would sign up for this again next year if they offered the full...it might be a little too far to travel for just the half. The volunteers are awesome & they really stick by you, expecially if you're one of the last ones. They are the best volunteers I've come across.

  • Comments: This RD had a significant challenge in that a forest fire nearby forced a massive change in the course. It made for some glitches in the race that would otherwise have not been there, but I thought that he did very well under the circumstances.

  • Comments: i'm not sure if i'll ever do an Ironman again. the logistics just don't appeal to me. i always forget something. but i have to say - as far as 1/2 and full IM races go - the Grand Columbian takes the cake. everybody goes out of their way to make you feel special. the whole town. the clerks at safeway ask you about the race if you buy stuff that the locals wouldn't, the race bibs have your name on it. they even go to the pain of researching your race history and announcing it when you go through the finish chute. they even return your special needs bags to you! i can't imagine a better race environment. if you read this and are not set on an IMNA event - please DO consider the GC. you'll be part of a family there. now please excuse me. i need to take a nap.
