  • Comments: A beautiful setting for a race. The roads were in places much busier than I'd like to be exposed to on the bike. Also, no mileage markers at all on the bike! Only markers on the run were at mile 2 and mile 11. That was absurd! Aside from that, it was a great way to end the 2014 season. I was really happy with my effort, and really glad I stopped to help Mike, and hopefully he'll make a full recover and be back out there soon.

  • Comments: While Black Diamond isn't the flashiest production race, or the most scenic course in the PNW I really enjoy racing here. Small field, well managed and a great way to cap a season before the rains/crap weather return. This is my 4th year in a row doing Black Diamond and every year they make this a better and better race. The tech shirt, race medal and Deschutes on tap after the race (even if I don't feel like having one) are a nice touch. Had a good dinner with my family at the Mint in Enumclaw after. I'll end this report by just saying this - They have lots of good beer and homemade bacon jam on the menu.

  • Comments: I would however like to thank the organizers for the much improved schwag and post race food. The tech shirt is something I'll actually use this year, and while I didn't exactly sit well after the bbq pork and free beer was a nice touch

  • Comments: I loved the course and would do it again for sure because of that fact but AA sports who puts on these races has some horrible volunteers and crappy post race food and festivities.

  • Comments: So this was the last triathlon of the year. I accomplished more or less what I set out to do. I learned that I do not like to swim in cold water triathlons and that running slow for endurance causes you to lose foot speed. With the tradeoff that I can recover quickly. Black Diamond was a pretty race but would have to think about doing it as a tri vice duathlon because of the small lake with the cold water.

  • Comments: THUMBS UP AND HIGH FIVES TO ALL... or at least to the few people that were left :) First HIM and First Half Mary in the bucket! Could not have asked for a better day weather-wise, a better venue, or a better race for my first half. Awesome day. I am truly in a state of wonder at what our bodies can accomplish when we set our minds to it. I love this distance, everything is just challenging enough and requires a lot of mental fortitude. I can't wait for my next HIM - See you in Oceanside! Thanks to everyone for all your encouragement and support throughout this training cycle - it made all the difference today!

  • Comments: Gosh I hate to rate the race as average since I felt I had a good time in both sense of the word, but, yes, there needed to be a bottle exchange in the south loop. I ran out of water there. Also the run portion had the 1/4 gravel road that was very difficult on my ankles, and I have BIG STRONG ankles!

  • Comments: Beautiful course, and well organized. I would do this one again. I have to admit to being a bit spoiled by doing an MDOT race first though. You do get a lot more in the way of aid, support, goodies, and rockstar ambiance with those hefty race fees. :)

  • Comments: I realy enjoyed this race and would do it again.I could see the major difference between a closed course race versus the not closed course we still had to deal with traffic and hostel residents at least verbaly hostel with the closed course you had no cars and trucks to deal with and you got hordes of happy people on the side lines cheering for you.

  • Comments: Despite some setbacks, this was almost a 20min PR over my HIM last year. And I finished with lots of gas in the tank (good heading into IM!) and zero sore muscles the next day. 8 weeks to go!!!

  • Comments: This is my 3rd race here. 1 sprint, 1 oly and now the half. Will for sure be back. This is a top notch event as far as I am concerned. Only though would be to have more port a potty's on the bike course.
