The Bridgeland Kids Triathlon is a pool swim. Kids are sorted by gender and age and walked into the pool area in an organized line where they wait to go in the water. The swim start is time trial (one at a time) with about 3-8 seconds between each child (depending on their swim speed once they start). Their time starts when they cross the swim start timing mat just before they jump feet first into the pool.

The bike course is on Lake Bridgeland Parkway. This is an open course meaning their are vehicles that travel the right lane while children are riding their bikes in the left. They will make a u-turn at the far end of the course where they will then come all the way back (also in the left lane) before turning back onto Park Road and going towards transition. Park Road is completely closed and the section of Lake Bridgeland Parkway that is used will have vehicles taper to a separate lane and the children will be protected at the turnout by police officers. We will have volunteers on the course for SAG, medical, and just to keep an eye on the kids. There is only one neighborhood turn out on the way back and we will have police there as well. The course is flat, on low traffic roads, and should be very safe.

The run course(s) are loops around Lake Bridgeland. The shorter 1/2-mile course follows the inner shoreline between the lake and pool and cuts right on Park Road to the finish while the longer 1-mile run course goes around the lake's outer shoreline and connects with Park Road further out before taking the kids towards the finish line. Nearly all of both courses are on sidewalks and the end section on Park Road is closed to all vehicular traffic during the race. Both courses are extremely safe. We will have an aid station about 1/4-1/3 of a mile in with Gatorade and water and have volunteers and medical roaming the course as well.
