Motion capture technology with 2D and 3D analysis offers some powerful benefits compared to just a standard bike fit.

Basic Bike Fitting Concepts

• Your bike should be determined per your bike riding style.  Do not get fit to a particular bike that you just happen to like.
• Don't let the bike determine the position that you ride in.
• Your bike fit should find the relationships with a particular bike and your riding position.
• A good bike fit will encourage better bike technique.

What is Motion Capture?

• Video is taken of a rider in various positions while pedaling
• This is usually done on a sizing cycle for a fitting
• One can see exactly what a rider under load is doing
• Motion capture offers a more precise fitting

This video mostly discusses 2D analysis via Dartfish.  Comparisons with 3D systems, RETUL are also made.

• 3D systems can more quickly calculate rider angles but with 2D a rider can see himself and not just be rendered into a stick figure.
• Key angles such as ankle, knee, hip, shoulders and elbow angles can be precisely determined.
• Before and after side-by-side analysis can be done.
