Improved upload & forum consolidation on horizon

We are always working to improve your experience here at BeginnerTriathlete. Here are two things we are working on at the site now:

Find Triathletes Near You

We will soon be combining the state forums into Triathlon Talk discussion forum, and we want to make it easier to find other triathletes in your area. Some great training clubs and partnerships are formed based on relationships started here at BeginnerTriathlete.

We plan to make a state-by-state index of users available in several places, but for now, go to your own profile (top right, under your name). You'll see your city and state there, if you entered it when you signed up. (You can always add your city and state by editing your profile.)

Newly this week, the name of your state is clickable. When you click on it, you'll see a list of other users in your state, in order by last activity on the website. This insures if you reach out to connect with others, you won't be wasting time with a user who hasn't logged in for months and is unlikely to receive your message. Please be polite in making contact with other users. You may add someone to your Friend list, or send them a courteous message through the website. We are all here to support each other, but some people prefer a level of anonymity, which is to be respected.

Consolidating Forums Soon

Once we have optimized placement and interface of the state listings of users, we'll merge the state-specific forums into Triathlon Talk. Look for the change, and be kind to people making local posts in Triathlon Talk. Many of our veterans are used to encouraging people to talk about local events and training areas in the state forums. Now these discussions, which are likely to be infrequent, will be in the main Triathlon Talk Forum.

Ideas and suggestions are welcome. For example, if we had a virtual volunteer for each state, we could create a state page that highlights top training areas, triathlon clubs and a link to races in that state.

Workout Upload Upgrade

We've been working hard behind the scenes this month to update a lot of technical code so that we can keep up with the workout files being created on the latest devices.

We currently accept direct uploads from Garmin for Performance Members (bronze, silver and gold).

It is also easy for Performance Members to sync their Garmin software with BeginnerTriathlete so that anytime they sync their watch/device to Garmin, it automatically uploads at BeginnerTriathlete. This is done in My Profile under Training Log Settings.

For non-Garmin users, we have a whole network of devices and training software that can sync with your Training Log and Training Plan here at BeginnerTriathlete.

Via the network at Tapiriik.com, you can sync your BeginnerTriathlete training log automatically with RunKeeper, Garmin, Strava, endomondo, SportTracks, Dropbox, TrainingPeaks, Ride with GPS, Train One, Pulstory, Motivato, Velo Hero, TrainerRoad, SmashRun, and Epson Runsense.

To enable the sync, visit Tapiriik.com and log into the accounts you wish to sync. Voila!

Additionally, if you've been having trouble uploading workouts of late, you should find these have been ironed out. Please post in the support forum or email us if you are having problems.
