I've been kicking around some goals. The main thing I'm going to focus on is the fact that I want to be lean this summer. It feels liberating to think about how I'm going to achieve it without my crazy obsessive tracking of everything. I've got lots of protein, fresh veggies & fruits in the house and when I'm hungry, that's what I'll eat. The past couple of days when I've been hungry between meals, I drank some water and if I was still hungry, then ate something. Mostly, after I drank the water, I forgot about eating.

I'm going to find a balance between working out for my mental health and working on the farm for pleasure and because it needs to be done. I think that's where I faltered last summer. If I do some sort of purposeful exercise in the morning, it sets a good tone for the day. It doesn't have to be a lengthy duration where I'm too tired to do other stuff throughout the day, but long enough to get a sweat on.

Mental score: 6 (I know, try not to die of shock, I'll do likewise)
Physical score: 5 (perfectly good as that's neutral)
Makes a huge difference when I can get a relatively full, relatively uninterrupted night of sleep.

I had my surgical follow up on Friday.  Progressing well, but the swelling continues back there.  Doc said this is a bit unusual and that I'm probably having some sort of reaction to the sutures or glue they used, and it will eventually subside.  I'm going to go back on hydroxyzine at night to see if that helps.  Surgical site still gets irritated if I rub it or scrape it accidentally, like I did yesterday with the edge of the ice pack.
I'm cleared to walk, bike indoors, and get in the pool.  Activity level is subject to pain threshold - IOW if it hurts, stop.  Who, me?   I shouldn't need any additional follow up unless there problems 3-4 weeks from now.  I totally forgot to ask about PT, so  will follow up via e-message on the portal.  I want to nail down 5-7 strength exercises that aren't yoga to prevent and future problems and really strengthen my core, and besides, I like the attention.
Went to the gym for the fi[...]

After just a few days of struggling through healthy foods and getting my butt up and moving, I'm already feeling better. I plan to get out and do some work on the farm every day this week. The temps are going to be in the 60s and the sun shining brightly! In a perfect world, I'd like to get up and get a short, purposeful workout in each morning, then move to office work and take a late afternoon break outside in the woods. However, in the real world, where it takes me 2-3 hours to fall asleep and pain issues, it's not easy dragging myself out of bed after just a few hours, so I'm working to figure out how to put everything together. I postponed the sports doc appointment, since new drugs really helped my shoulder, but Fred pointed out that it is only masking the problem and I should keep the PT appointment so I can get the issue resolved.

Rained yesterday afternoon and last night. Only a light mist this morning, but more rain expected for late morning. Decided to swap bike day for run day again this weekend.

I thought the skin cancer incision area was finally getting better, but it opened up again yesterday. It is also tender again. I have no idea what is going on! I think I am going to call the Derm on Monday and schedule an appointment.

Training team was great. I overslept and just barely got to the meet up in time to warm up. The hill on Holly Hill Rd was brutal. At least walking it wasn't as bad as running it.
The guy who had the backpack last week had his son in a carrier today.  It was a little chilly to start--but the little guy was a real trooper for the walk ad never complained about being cold (his pants rode up & he had exposed legs) or the sun in his eyes--he just shut his eyes.
My friend K was posting a bunch of household items for sale,  I got Miss Thing a bunch of wine glasses and a Pampered Chef baking dish with a lid. Thing is pretty expensive new, got it for $15.
