We got back from Cuba yesterday. Wow! What a great trip! There was no access to the internet there. Well, we could have stood in a 2 hour line to get a scratch off card for 5 dollars for an hour of access, IF you could find a wifi access. Cubans just got to own computers LAST year. Think about it! It is a wonderful place, and until unlimited greed caused the revolution, Havana would have been the most beautiful city I have ever seen. It is still amazing in its falling down state. Now that folks are allowed to own property as of 2008, things are starting to be fixed up, but access to materials is very difficult. I am so glad we went, even if it did mean missing the DC women's march AND my hot chocolate race. It was haunting, especially with our current situation here.
On a workout note, no workouts but I did walk at least 6 miles a day (lazy beach day) and most days were 10+ miles.

Feel like a primal scream might do me some good. I was assigned a last minute online class that I had to set-up last night, still have one assignment from last semester's online class to score and it's a new semester at work. If I just give each individual task some short-term laser-focus I'll be fine, but I'm so used to all my juggled responsibilities meshing better than they have this past week it makes me anxious/stressed when they collide mid-air.

Didnt do as much as I had planned this weekend. Such a nice day this past Saturday ended up running close to 4 miles around 9 minute pace. And some cardio stuff on Sunday.

Need to come up with a plan for my swimming, finding the best times to be committed to go.
I want to be ready and in descent shape once the nicer comes so i can go full. Need to get my in gear....

8:38am: Monday - ready to tackle the new week. 
After picking up Belle at day care, I will scoot home and have another strength training session. My calves are killing me from doing stairs yesterday. But otherwise, it's all good!!
The sun coming out on Saturday -- after not seeing it for days before and not since -- was so nice. I'm digging the warmer weather (it's been in the low 40's), but I need my vitamin D! #firstworldproblems

Oh man, got an email from Travelocity that my killer deal of a flight from Wichita to Rome (in May) has been "changed." It looks like instead of flying direct from Atlanta to Rome, they have re-routed me from Atlanta to New York to Paris to Rome, getting me into Rome 7 hours later which will not work for boarding my cruise. I clicked on the "this is not acceptable" link so they will call me to discuss it. I'm hoping that since THEY are the ones to mess with the schedule that I can re-book for the day before without having to pay a change fee.

I have just over 10 pounds between my current weight and the upper limit of my goal range.  SO HAPPY.  Depending on how I feel after those 10-11 pounds decides how much more comes off.  Not chasing a number, I'm looking for how I feel and a general "look" of healthiness as opposed to letting a number from a scale dictate my day.
While I am disappointed that the Steelers could not make anything happen last night--I am glad that the Falcons are playing in the Super Bowl.  Only because the Falcons QB is a guy who grew up on Downingtown, PA  where we lived for about 20 years before moving to Richmond.  Hope Matt Ryan can demolish Tom Brady's cheaters.

So, it seems that Felicity is not going to nap anymore. We will institute some quiet time but it is a moment to reflect. Our awesome little sleeper who used to take 3 hour naps on the weekends. Nothing wrong with it, just a new normal.

Recovery day/ recovery week.
If you've noticed a lot of recovery weeks here, it's because Jackie believes that masters athletes should be on a two week build so we are giving that a whirl.
You may have also seen that I post a lot of "functional strength stuff" here.  I just ran across this article that kind of explains the FMS test. The routine is customized to each individual after the assessment.  I get to do a lot of leg raises and squats and bridges.  We are starting to add pull ups, etc.
