Master 2094 | Subject: Tri the Ridge Sprint Triathlon : Official Thread http://go-greenevents.com/TriTheRidgeSprintTri Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, historic Pickens, SC dishes up some of the most picturesque scenery in the Upstate. Our lush country setting couples sweetly with the challenging topography-- undulating hills, exhilarating in their rise and fall-- canopied forests and expansive views. Respectable as a Sprint Distance course, the Tri the Ridge route is suitable for beginners, yet challenging enough to entice the most experienced athlete. Don't be fooled by the pool swim; the remainder of the course will test your mettle. We're offering up the best of what the foothills have to offer. Accept the challenge. Try the TRI and conquer The Ridge! |

Master 2094 | Subject: RE: Tri the Ridge Sprint Triathlon : Official Thread FWIW, There will be a group of cyclist doing a Sat group ride along the race course at 10:00 am every weekend until the race. There is an option to do a second and third 18 mile loop to boost your mileage if desired. There is also a swim session at 9:00 am that precedes the bike but you need to be a Pickens or Upstate Y member to attend. |

Master 2094 | Subject: RE: Tri the Ridge Sprint Triathlon : Official Thread Just a reminder that the price for this race goes up $5 on Sept 1. It is a bargain at $45 now and a great beginner race since you avoid the USAT charge. |

You really need to come back and defend your title as the last overall winner although if kyle enters, he won't make it an easy task. |

Well, by not biking for months and not swimming since I can't remember when, I think I've helped him out a bit... Hope to change that soon. Kyle: It's a fun race. Do it! My advice is: (1) If somebody seeds themselves in front of you on the swim, use enhanced interrogation techniques to make sure they really are going to swim the pace they claim. (2) The bike is hilly, but also short -- redline it! If you do well, the run will be lonesome and you'll wonder where you are. Just keep running! |

Master 2094 | Subject: RE: Tri the Ridge Sprint Triathlon : Official Thread I'm sure you will enjoy this course, There will be one last training ride next Sat at 10 am. There is an option to swim at 9 before and run at 11 after. I usually ride a 2nd or 3rd loop after the no-drop training ride but need to get down to Athens by 4 pm so probably will only do 25 total. Other people may ride further. |

Register quickly so you can get a Tee shirt designed by a Clemson alum. I'm sure you need at least 1 more race shirt to keep your bike clean |

Master 2094 | Subject: RE: Tri the Ridge Sprint Triathlon : Official Thread http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?route... The bike course is a blast. Most of the turns are merges so you rarely have to slow down. The first half is mostly down while everything past the base of Roanoke feels like it is up. It is really a great course |

Leave it up to me to miss a turn right? Probably only lost 20 seconds though. Having said that, the course was very well marked. Very well organized. Great bike scenery too! Hills are tough though. Wouldn't have thought that just based on distance. Edited by Tmanishere 2013-09-14 10:23 AM |

Master 2094 | Subject: RE: Tri the Ridge Sprint Triathlon : Official Thread Yes, T was 2nd in his age group and for the 2nd time in a row a BTer has been the overall winner. Clempson crushed the course with a bike split 3 minutes faster than the closest competitor and setting a new bike course record by over a minute. Great day, perfect weather. |

I wish I could have stayed, but had plans to meet people at noon. Teaches you not to pack so much activities in one day! haha. |
