Hi

I trained for triathlons in 1986 thru 1988. I actually competed in a few too. It was a BLAST. Since then I have aged and gained 85 lbs.

Well I have it in my soul that I am going to get back into tri's again. I totally hate running (I always have) but I love swimming and biking. I have a plan set and I am going to substitute an elliptical machine for runs. I don't plan to do any Olympic distance triathlons this year, I just want to get to the point where I can run a 10k.

I will be 50 in 2017, that is the start of an age bracket in the Kona Hawaii Ironman. I want to compete in that race. That is more of a dream than a long term goal, but if I am going to train I might as well have a dream, right?

For now I will be hanging around the weight loss forms till I get comfy.

c u around

Vic

Welcome Vic,

I would like to join you for that 2017 race. I will be in the same age group.

I am only a little ways ahead of you in training. I started about 18 months ago. Since then I have lost 45 lbs, and completed several races including a half iron race in September. I still have a long way to go, but I am making progress.

Nothing wrong with a big dream.

Nothing wrong with a big dream.

Nothing wrong at all.

Sounds like you are well on your way. Wow 45 pounds and a half iron. I hope to do something like that in the months to come months.

thanks for the words of encouragement.

Vic

Nice user name!  I'm not big on the history of this sport but I imagine you were one of the first to take up this sport?  Welcome back.  You've found a great site.
