OWS in Calgary

Last year I just went to the lakes in the "practice" week before the event - Arbor, Coral and Chap. I had a few chances to lake swim down by Fernie while camping but not so much this year I think.

I too would also like to find a good location to get some swims in that don't have a lot of power boats.

Well, with the new Ironman 70.3 that was just announced, has anyone swam in Ghost Lake?

Although I've never swam there, I remember it being VERY cold whenever I've dipped my hands/feet in to cool down. Anyone have any firsthand experience?

I'm trying to decide if I should enter next year's 70.3 or another HIM (if any) next summer.

No first hand experiences in ghost but it is cold, I am going to register though. kind of a weird setup.

I'm still undecided as the thought of really cold water bothers me. I'm not yet that comfortable in open water. I need more practice.

I like the point-to-point style. Different but interesting. I think it gives a real sense of distance and thus, accomplishmnent.
