Are there any good spots to OWS in Grand Rapids? I live near Reeds Lake in Kentwood but there is no public access to swim there.

There is a group that regularly swims in Reeds Lake from Collins Park in East Grand Rapids -it might even be the Village Bike Shop Tri Team, but I am not sure.

I do my OWS in Green Lake off of Kalamazoo Ave in Leighton Township (south of 108th Street) --there is a Township Park there with a small beach --no cars allowed though, which is great excuse to do a bike-swim-bike workout.

Another thought (although I have not tried it yet) is Millennium Park in downtown GR, which will be the site of the inaugural (sp?) Millennium Sprint Tri in GR August 9.

I've actually swam at Reeds lake on saturday morning with a group that belongs to the yacht club there and ran into (seriously in the middle of the lake) a guy from Gazelle's that was out with a tri goup. Might just look into that, I'm not really sure where they were from officially. I've also heard of some triers swimming in Murray's Lake (I think thats it). I will let you know if I hear of others.

I believe Bostwick Lake (which is hosting a small sprint tomorrow- Saturday) has a group that OWS on certain days which I am attempting to get in on, since I live pretty close to there.

I'm guessing that he was a tall guy wearing a wetsuit and speaks with a strong accent. If so that was Chris one of the trainers for the Trizelle team. I'm in that group. If you go to the Gazelle sports website you can find the info on the group.
We also raced the Bostwick Tri this weekend.
