Subject: Wife needs help with first triathlon containing the twins

Hiya

I know this topic is back in the archives somewhere but I want the up to date opinion. I keep telling my wife (a high school swimmer) to try a sprint distance. After many months of making fun of my speedo she cracked and she said she wants to do a race with me in August (me OLY her Sprint). She will be low tech- hybrid mountain bike, no clip in pedals,etc-just for fun. Her major concern (and mine too since I am a very loving husband) is she is very blessed in the bosom department. She said gravity and physics will prevent her from running in a swimsuit. Since this is just a sprint distance (no changing tents) what should she wear/purchase to be comfortable and keep her precious cargo safe?

What is she going to wear for the bike and run?  Just put something on over the swimsuit?

She needs to wear a sports bra under her swimsuit if this is a concern.  I recommend something dri-fit.  I often wear a Nike dri-fit sports bra under my regular tri suit and even swimsuit in training.  Or...get a triathlon sports bra...the key is a sports bra along with the swimsuit.  I'm not sure if this is comfortable for her...never been an issue for me.

We put our twins to work at a water stop at our tri last weekend.

Not sure that will work for your wife...

Moving Comfort Fiona Bra works well for women up to 42DD. It is wicking, highly adjustable with velcro strapes and best of all does not give that uni-boob look so often given by sub standard sports bras.

She will need to wear a sports bra under whatever she decided to wear.  Or just a sports bra but not white, and tri shorts if she feel comfortable dressed like that.

Do a forum search and you'll see lots of threads on what type of sports bra is best..but most of the time this is the one many women similar to your wife wear.

Being rather well endowed, this was a concern of mine before my first Sprint in May.  I bought a Zoot Endurance Trifit tank.  It has a relly nice built in jog bra.  It worked great for all three legs of the race.

Tri shorts, tri top and a really good sports bra no changing required.

Title 9 has some very good motion control bras for ample bosoms that are also quick drying.  I have actually found some Bestform compression bras at Wal-Mart that work very nicely controlling the girls.  They do not completely ban the bounce but they actually fit around the chest and have sufficient cargo room to contain ample breasts without squishing them out the top.

My experience doing actual races is very limited.  But what I plan on doing is sports bra (I second the moving comfort fiona bra--that bra ROCKS), tri top, and then tri shorts.  There's no way I could do just a reg. swimsuit either.

I, too, feel that pics are needed to fully entertain this question.  Also...comparison pics of those that have made suggestions would be a plus.  Thanks in advance.

I run in the fiona and agree it's best for women in the larger C or D range, but I can't swim in it. The velcro shoulders bother me and it's multiple layers. I bought a tri bra and tight tri top and it works great. It dries in minutes, doesn't ride up at all when you swim and there is no bounce. I think the bra is 2XU and my top is Craft. I had to try on several so I recommend she put them on, move around and find the best fit.
