Swim
Comments: I don't know my time for the swim because for some reason the only times they have for me are overall, T2 and run. But I feel I had a strong swim, I felt great the whole time. I'm not the fastest swimmer but my goals are modest - finish feeling comfortable - and I definitely achieved that. What would you do differently?: Sight better. Transition 1
Comments: Don't know my T1 time, but the wetsuit did get stuck on the heels. What would you do differently?: I guess I need to practice getting the wetsuit off. Bike
Comments: First 5-10 miles of the bike I took it a little easy, got some water in, I didn't want to go out too fast. My hamstrings felt tight at the start but they loosened up. Not a super fast biker, especially on hills but I can ride for a long time usually. This course was a little hillier than the route I train on. At about mile 40 I was actually thinking to myself "this is it? HIMs are easy." HA! The bike started to get very hard around mile 45 for the rest of the race. What would you do differently?: Short warmup ride to loosen up the hamstrings. And train more. I need to find some bigger hills and hit the weight room. I'm moving in a few weeks so hopefully my new main route will be hillier. Transition 2
Comments: I decided to take my newer running shoes which don't have speed laces since it was a long run so I had to stop to tie them vs. just slip them on. I also wore socks for this again because of the distance so that took some time. I also had to pee pretty badly. Still I think I could have done all this faster. What would you do differently?: Not much considering the distance and this was my first HIM. Maybe put some speed laces on the newer shoes and just try to move a little faster. Run
Comments: First off, my garmin says 1:53 and they have me at 1:58. I put what they had me as for the time here, but considering they didn't get my swim, T1, or bike times, I'm not sure I believe them. Either way, I had a great run. I know I'm not the strongest biker so I keep myself mentally OK with being passed by knowing I'll see alot of them again. Even the 1:58 was faster than a huge chunk of the field. And for the first time in a triathlon, not a single person passed me on the run. It was a good feeling. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, got some food and water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike strength. Last updated: 2008-06-24 12:00 AM
