Subject: Training Plan Question

I am doing the Oly training plan that is run focused.  Today is the first day of my "active"rest week (#4).  Saturday is my scheduled "OFF" day.  On Friday I am supposed to have a long bike and on Sunday a long run.  Now, my question.  I am going to attend a Tri clinic on Saturday and will be having exertion in all 3 categories.  Each dicipline is 2 hours long.  I know in the run portion we will be doing Max HR/ Threshold testing.  I am thinking I will take Friday and Sunday off to better handle the stresses placed on me during the clinic.  Does this sound reasonable?  What effect will it have in the long run since it is during "active rest" week?  I don't want to risk injury or losing the progress I have made to this point.

Any input would be great!

Alan

I think that you have the right idea. I would think that a rest day before your clinic would be a good plan. For the day after I would just play it by how I felt, If you feel you need a rest day then take one and don't feel least bit guilty. After all it is you active rest week.

i concur...depending on if your mostly running those 2 hours, i would even take sunday off....but if your mostly 'playing' around (which i doubt is the case), then maybe a sunday run would be ok.

rest is highly under-rated...take advantage.  this will also allow proper rest for the following build week.

Thanks.  That is how I was feeling but since I don't know what I am doing, I wanted some more experienced advice.  I will let you know how it goes.
