Pre-race routine:

Drove to the race. Kept passing up gas stations thinking I would find one closer to the race site....nope. Missed out on my morning Rockstar. Booooo.
Event warmup:

Ran around a bit, but not much. It was rainyish, very humid. I'd been kinda dehydrated lately so I decided to kinda chill, save fluids?? Sounded like a plan anyway.
Run
  • 14m 8s
  • 2.4 miles
  • 05m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt exactly how I wanted it to. About 90-95% of max effort.
What would you do differently?:

train to be faster:)
Transition 1
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

very long run to T1. 30 seconds. Yes, I timed it.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. practice jumping on the bike with shoes on the bike??
Bike
  • 37m 50s

Comments:

My cables had stretched BAD. Had Tom D mess with it for more than 20 min prior to the race. He fixed it enough for me to race. I was able to keep it in the big ring, that's it. Not a big deal as the course was not real hilly. When I arrived at the race, I could not keep it in the big ring. So this was a HUGE improvement. But I was a little worried about shifting too much, but all was good. Roads were wet, but not too scary. Fairly decent bike. First race with this bike.
What would you do differently?:

Push it maybe a bit harder? Maybe? Legs were tired pretty quick though. So maybe I did the right thing here.
Transition 2
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

I thought this was good. I did my first "flying dismount" felt so pro:) Went from the back of a line of 6 or 7 people to the front, they were all doing the old school clip out dismount, so I saved some time here.
I lost some time when I had to sit down, yes, SIT DOWN to get my freaking shoe on. Then I though it was all bunched up in the back, nope. I later find out it was a blister. oops.
What would you do differently?:

not sit down?
Run
  • 31m 35s
  • 4 miles
  • 07m 54s  min/mile
Comments:

This is where my race fell apart. First two miles...good, was starting to pick the pace up, was pushing it, but not feeling horrible. Then I start thinking about life, and not my race. TOTALLY ZONED. A few minutes later I notice that my pace was easy, too easy. Just then, the finest piece of pace booty I'VE EVER SEEN passes me. I snapped out of it and tried to chase him down. OH. MY. GOD. Short tri shorts....muscles flexing and bulging and...well, you understand. He saved my race.
What would you do differently?:

Not zone. Remember that I am RACING and not just out for a stroll! Heh. Ima dumbass sometimes.
Post race
Warm down:

Not much. Walked around a bit. Talked to my teammates. Went to find the girls so I could run them in. Ate a snausage and waited for the awards....I will have to wait longer. The overall trophies weren't there.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My brain. What's new?

Event comments:

Not a big race but this race is usually pretty competitive. I've always done fairly well and placed in AG or OA but never won.

First OA today and my first race with my team racing kit on. Felt good I could do that for the team and I PR'd by more than 8 minutes. That makes me happy.

So much to comment on I could probably write a book, but I digress.

First, what a kickazz first run!  You can move pretty damm fast with big calves!

Hmmmm, hope you get the bike check on and tuned up properly soon.  That's not fun having mechanical issues.

The flying dismount - wasn't that a gymnast's move, or an All-Star wrestling offensive submission hold?

DON'T SIT DOWN!  WTH??

Way to go, sis!

Chasing young, fine booty is always my strategy on the run.  I just let them pass me until one of them motivates me to run after them.  Unfortunately for me, I didn't get any really good eye candy until 2 miles into my 5k and my time sucked yesterday.

Great job Trixie!  Your first run was amazing!  jo
