here you go....I know there is one out of UBC and the YWCA downtown...but here's a more thorough (provincewide) list....

http://www.mastersswimming.bc.ca/clubs.html

and here is the current YWCA class list.... http://www.ywcahealthandfitness.com/class?cat=Aquatics&x=37&y=11

Peter Scott - my instructor is going to be doing a TI MASTERS program out of the ywca starting in the fall - where the sets are TI 'drill based'  and 'mindfull swimming' based and not so much on 'split/speed' based....

If the times work with my schedule I will be doing that one....

thanks Chris ;-p

that is my one of my 'outdoor' suits so I can avoid the 'one-piece tan lines'!  Indoors, I usually wear my one piece - sorry!

haha - no I meant just a regular one-piece bathing suit...I actually never have worn my wetsuit in a pool....but at Kits Pool I do see people in their wetsuits there nearly everytime I swim there.  I think because it is a salt water pool (not so bad for your suit as a chlorine pool) and because the lengths are sooo long....

I would like to try it myself - but just never have gotten around to doing it.

I had a blond moment, after I sent the message I realized that you weren't referring to wet suits.  A lot of people do train there in there suits.  Kits pool rocks.  I think I might check out the YMCA masters program.  Thanks for the info!

Couch potato,

I'm looking at taking swimming lessons soon. I'm pretty much starting from scratch. From what I've read TI is something I'd like to take. Do you know if the TI sessions starting in September will be open to beginner swimmers?

thanks

Vapor - I probably wouldn't suggest the TI masters classes right off the bat....(but probably after a couple of TI lessons you would be okay - just to get a hand of the drills, positioning).

I personally was a 'non-swimmer' (my method of swimming more resembled the doggy paddle than anything) back in February when I took my first lessons - TI lessons from the coach linked to above.  I took 4 private lessons - practiced one my own for several months (did 2 tri which I was MOP for my swims)....then recently 3 more 'small group lessons (one lesson I was the only one there for 90 mins!).

Peter Scott does drops in (you have to pre-book with him) on Weds from 7:30-9:00 pm and Thurs from 8:00-9:30 pm.  He said the Weds drops in are going to be for people new to TI and Thurs for the people who have already had a few lessons and working on the more advanced 'details'....so definitely look into TI for starting out!!!

If you are local I would whole-heartedly recommend Peter Scott....great to work with!

Let me know if you have more ?'s...

Thanks again.

I was pretty sure that is what you meant LOL!

there are none listed on the 'find a coach' link at www.totalimmersion.net (which is actually where I found mine!)....but that is not to say that there aren't any in Kelowna....I would enquire at your pools.....it's becoming more and more popular and well-known....

I've managed to sign up for a few lessons through Peter. Looking forward to the classes.

Thanks for heads up on the TI instruction.
