This is the team thread for the "Williams College Ephman" or Ephs for short. (Named for Ephraim Williams, the founder of the college)

This is where we can post as a team about how we are doing with our running through the month and maybe encourage each other a bit. Some challenge teams are quite chatty and others not so much. (My experience from past challenges) Regardless, if we get a visit or two from the cool kids (Beth or Dee, the Challenge Queens) it will definitely get interesting.

Oh, if your on this team, please post and tell us a bit about yourself and maybe a bit about your goal race. (Or just training goals if your base building in the off season)

Let the games begin and Run Safe Everyone

I am WaterDog (Tim) and have only been running for a few years now. I took up marathoning because as a Triathlete, my run really sucked. Now after 7 marathons and 2 Ironmans, my run does not suck as much as it once did.

I qualified for Boston last December and am currently training for the Fall Marathon Season where I am really hoping to break 3 hours in the Marathon. I am doing the Long Beach Marathon in October as a Tuneup race to get my head back into Marathoning before my first proper sub-3 attempt in Santa Clarita in November and then Tucson in December and possibly Carlsbad in January if necessary. (To Hit my goal)

After that, I will be doing nothing but preparing for my first Boston Marathon

Hey, Matt here.  I started running regularly in December with Sprint tris in mind, so not a lot of distance involved.  I also had a couple of injuries related to running during training, but am over those and am now training for my first half-marathon at the end of September.   With that in mind and starting to increase the mileage, I thought this challenge would keep me going and help me get in the miles to finish my first half.

My challenge record is 1-for-2, w/ 100% fun.

Let's hit the ground running!!

I'm Mike, and pretty much suck on the run at this point.  Way back in the day, I ran cross country in high school, but then got old and fat before picking up triathlons this year.  I'm getting slowly better, and need to improve my run base over the fall/winter if I'm going to do an HIM next year.

100 miles will be a stretch, but I'm pretty sure I can do it.

Married, have a daughter who's a freshman in high school, and work an IT job at Sprint Nextel.  So, I should have plenty of free time to pound the pavement and hit my goal.

In 2009 I want to do an HIM and run a marathon, so this is a good place for me to start.

Beg, bribe, or coerce someone to be your team captain.

Let me know who it is.

Thanks!

Howdy, I'm Andy.

I am keeping my run mileage relatively low but still need to keep it moving and slowly building. I'm recovering from my 3rd flareup of achilles tendonitis back in February, so I have to keep it easy for now. I've done 3 marathons, one for fun in Vegas, one at the end of my Ironman, and one with my wife. Each one of them has been a hoot.

Right now I'm working on getting faster at the shorter distances, hoping to crack 20 minutes in a 5K again. Back in high school I had a PR of 19:14; in my last sprint tri I was at 20:17. So I'm not far off from it. Just need to do a standalone 5K sometime I guess, to see where I am.

So far my schedule has me doing an Olympic tri at the end of next month, then a sprint in mid-October. After that I'll decide if I am healthy enough for a December half marathon.

Looking forward to the challenge.

Welcome to the team Andy, Mike and Matt

Sounds like some great running for the month we have planned.

I know there are a couple more team mates that have yet to check in here.

Hey guys, late joiner here. I'm Kristin. I've been running for 9 years although I sucked for about 8 of those. I've done 4 marathons, none of them terribly well, but I have really enjoyed them. I do 10+ running races a year and prefer the longer distances. Just took up triathlon this year.

My next big race is the NYC Marathon on Nov. 2. I was training well for a sub-4, but crashed my bike a couple weeks ago and haven't been able to run since. I'm waiting on a fractured shoulder to heal, then my focus will be 100% on the marathon.

Even though I may get off to a late start, never fear, I don't care what it takes, I always finish a challenge. I had to ride my final TdF miles on the trainer after a half-mary where I was sick to my stomach not only the entire race, but the entire day! I'm only in for 120 miles and cannot wait to get back out there running.

Looking forward to running with you this month!

Hi, I'm Robyn.

I have 75 miles up this month with 2 big races; Dances with Dirt 62 mile relay and Cancun 70.3.  So roughly half of those miles will come in 2 days, however, I anticipate doing a lot of nothing after Cancun other than sitting on the beach with a margarita.

Hey, glad you joined us Kristin and Robyn

Gonna be a great month of running. I will "shake the trees" tomorrow for the last couple of runners on our team and will post a "Team Block" in case anyone wants to put in their goals section.

Thanks for doing the team block. I have no idea how to do those but love to have them in my goals.

Hope everyone is ready to run! I'm seeing my orthopedist tomorrow and am praying I am allowed to start running next week, even if just a little. Should be a fun month!

Frack. How'd I get on Robyn's team? She's a well known slacker.

I've never sat around in Cancun with a margarita after a race. (I had electric lemonades.)

OK, so I think we are pretty close to a full roster and we have a great team with some very nice run goals for the month. Here is the HTML Team Roster if you wish to paste it into your Blog. (Or Not) Two of the links go to a default error page for some reason They are working now.

We can be as chatty or as quiet on the team thread as we feel necessary but I think Dee and Beth will come along and stir the pot if we go totally silent

I saw my orthopedist today and he cleared me to run in one week so I'll be sure to get my miles in now! I can't wait. No more elliptical he!!.

And about the chattiness, I'm on Team Post Padding for the Four is More Challenge so I'll try not to transfer those skills over here too much But I do enjoy a chatty group, it's great for motivation.

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!

Hey that is great news Kristin

As for being chatty, there is nothing wrong with using this thread to "Post Pad" here as well. I met quite a few of my BT friends in the challenges.

I was talking with one of my club mates this morning who is also recovering from a bike smash and we all agreed that Doctors usually underestimate our ability to recover (Quicker then folks who are not as active that is).
