perhaps what's more impressive is that he had a decent swim (71min) and run (3:57).

I was watching IMWI the other day and there was a lot of coverage about the AGer (Nat somebody) that was in the virtual lead getting off the bike (impressive), then he dnf'd on the run

Apparently Nat was using IMWI as a practice run for Kona and was planning on falling back during the first part of the run. He finished Kona in 9:16:26 and placed 6/159 in his age group and 61st overall.

I was at IMWI and was at the exit to T2. The coach of the guy you mention was there and I was talking with him a little bit. He was saying that this guy was in the lead and that he was planning to drop out on the run originally as he was using it just as a training race, but was doing very well and was considering going for it. Obviously he did not make it, but I thought it was cool to be talking with this guys coach.

Matt Illingworth, an age grouper racing today cut 42 seconds off the previous bike course record held by Mitch Anderson (4:18:07) with a new time of 4:17:25.

My quads hurt just thinking about that.  I can't imagine running after.

Wow i would be happy to average 26mph in a sprint!

I watched that guy on TV and remember laughing because he was in the "virtual" lead and he commented about how he was wanting to crush some of the pro's lol.  Then he got passed by everyone on the run.  But he is an awesome cyclist.

I think Nat had a little diarreah(sp) of the mouth and did not mean to sound like a tool. His times are pretty freaking amazing considering the time he has devoted to long course tris. His IMH result is crazy considering that was his first full IM (I think) and he was a Kona rookie. I am very interested in what this kid can pull off over the next couple of years. I am pulling for the dream crusher (phrase of the year....by far).

"Your dreams? Let me crush them for you." COME ON...that is PURE GOLD!! There are so many ways you can take the phrase!! "I had a DREAM of doing well in this race but a bad bike CRUSHED them."

Thread hi-jack. Post your favorite dream crushing variation below.

Dude IMWA must be ridiculously fast. The age grouper who went 4:17:25 on the bike went 9:20 overall.... and finished 5th in the M40-45 AG. The AG winner was in 8:43. Wow that sounds like a race to PR in ...plus a trip down under
