Don't know about this year, but last year for the 70.3, I swam at 8am the day before the race and there were a lot of people there doing the same thing.  Now, that was a Saturday, not a Friday, but I don't know that the beach was actually "open" then.  Probably worth swinging by there with swim gear if you want to swim then.  Worst that'll happen is a brief waste of time, I guess.

Hey...looky there:  Bib #410.

(Easy to remember:  That's the time I'd like to get to on the run if my hamstring injury doesn't blow up.  **fingers crossed and knock wood**)

Just a reminder for anyone who hasn't previewed the course (sorry if this info is repetitive -- I'm reminding myself as well), coming right out of T1 there is a very short but sharp hill. Make sure your bike is in it's easiest gear when you park it in T1.
Mike

Nearly everyone runs their bike up the hill and starts riding. At least that was how it worked last year.

I'll be up there on Friday... leaving tomorrow and doing the majority of the drive. My buddy isn't going to race anymore so I am on my own and may be up for dinner.

Sadly, could be looking at DNF on the run--or at least very long day.  Hamstring injury not doing well on very short runs last two days.  I'll be resting it, etc., for the next 48 hours, but it hasn't come around as much as it looked like it would after the first week of rehabbing it.  Oh, well...it is what it is at this point.  Just sucks to have a freak, non-overuse, injury get in the way like this.

Hoping to not DNF here because of the calves, we shall see, I have been staying off them.

So how do you find your bib number?

Go to the athlete tracking link and enter your name.

I have to admit my knee's been bugging me for the last week or two.  I've been icing it 3 times a day and taking ibuprofen to try to keep any swelling down.  C'est la guerre.  We're a who's who of the wounded and we're still more fortunate than those who won't be able to toe the start line.

The number is so low, I feel like an elite!  I doubt I feel the same way when I come in just under the wire, but a guy can dream

See you all out there, and good luck (that is, as long as you are not in M35-39;  if you are, then, umm, well, break a leg or something... )

And 333 for Barb's Race.  So over 1000 people on the course this year.  Big jump in the numbers from last year, if I'm not mistaken.  Crap economy seems to = good times for non M-Dot IMs.

It could be your browser. It seems to work in IE 8, Firefox, and Safari, and requires the Flash plug-in.

If it's working, you will plainly see a magnifying glass, the text "Enter Name or Bib #" and a "Go" button.
