Subject: Moving to Nashville: Need help finding a club and good tri shop

My wife and I will be moving to Nashville next spring and are looking to get plugged into the Tri community as soon as possible.  Looking online, I haven't found much as far as tri shops or clubs go.  Any suggestions?

We're doing IM CdA in June and will definitely need a very good bike shop.  We also love group rides, so any help would be great.  Thanks!

What part of Nashville will you call home? I live in Hendersonville and we have the only tri shop in the area up here (ACME Multisports ). We also have a tri team up here called HEAT (Hendersonville Endurance Athletic Team) . There is triathlon swim 3 days a week at the YMCA up here but I go to masters at Sea Star in Hendersonville. Great group.
There is another tri group in Nashville called the Greater Nashville Athletic Club. I don't know anything about that group, though.

The riding here is SO wonderful. It is the perfect place to train for CdA. The hills are very similar. I have only lived here since August but I really love it and find it is very athlete-friendly.

Well, we haven't started house hunting yet, so I'm not sure which side of town we'll call home.  Is Hendersonville easy to get to from central Nashville?  It doesn't look far, but I'm willing to drive if neccessary.  It's hard to beleive there's no tri shop in Nashville...

 Thanks for the help!

But there are some good bike shops.  I live in Murfreesboro, MOAB is a great bike shop.  There is also one Brentwood.  You will be fine...

X2.

Acme is within driving distance of most areas around Nashville.  Excellent shop!

Although there are not too many Tri specific clubs in Nashville, it is actually getting pretty big here.  So, you will have no problem finding gear and people to train with when you get here.  For starters you may try finding a good local bike store.  I recommend Gran Fondo.  They have a tri club as well as a cycling club and a race team.  See there link below:

Also, for swimming, I recommend checking out Excel Aquatics in Brentwood.  They offer coach trained triathlon swim practice for different levels.  It is a good way to meet the other triathletes in the area and and get socialized.  Plus, the coach is trained by an Olympic gold medalist (Ashley Whitney) and a multi-Iron Man finisher (Dee Davis).  Their website has plenty of links to other triathlete sites as well.  See their link below:

Lastly, there are plenty of run groups (i.e. Nashville fit) and triathlete coaches (i.e. Stephen Taylor) to get you involved.

Good luck with your move.

Make sure you sign up for the Mach Tenn tri - it a great small race, kind of kicks off the tri season.  Its usually the first Saturday in June.
