I'm looking to get a good fit on my tri bike and not sure where to go. I've received a couple recommendations, but I'm wondering what everyone else thinks.

I've been fitted at the Richardson RBM and it was horrible.  After the bad fit I took my bike to Plano cycling and they got me straightened out very nicely and did a thorough fitting.  Both places did an aero fit and it was clear that the guy at RBM had no clue what he was doing, eventhough I had made an appointment for an aero fit.  my .02 cents

Do you remember the guys name? There are a ton of people at Bikemart and I think it's a bit wrong to blanketly say the RBM fit was bad. This depends too much on the fitter and not the location. If you can remember the name of the guy you recommend to avoid, it would be more useful to all who are reading this.

While I agree knowing the person's name would be helpful, what would be more helpful is if someone doesn't know how to fit a person to the bike they shouldn't be doing it,
from being on this board and other local tri boards/clubs I've yet to hear of anyone thinking they got a decent fit out of the Richardson Bike mart store, myself included..  I have heard some good reviews on the Frisco store,, I can't remember his name, but he is the tall guy  around 6'6" or so.  I've also heard many, many great things about plano cycling,, usually it's after they have been at RBM then gone to plano so they can compare the two store.

again I'm sure there are people at RBM that are great at tri bike fitting,, I've just never heard anyone that has been fitting from over there say that.

If you really are looking for the best, John Cobb might be available for fitting.  You will have to make the trip out here to Tyler though.  He didn't fit me, but I was fit by a mechanic trained by John.

For those who don't know, he is most known for fitting Lance Armstrong.  He is very aggressive, requiring great flexibility in the hamstrings, which I severely lack.

Alver is the man at Plano Cycle.  He knows what he is doing and is very active in the sport.

I don't remember the guys name at RBM but the guy's name @ Plano Cycling was Alver.  He was great.  I would recommend him.

I'm not trying to bash RBM just relaying my experience.

Yeah I have to chime in again...my experience with RBM is a bunch of elitist pr***s.  Go to Plano or take Fleeb's advice.  Of course this orly pertains to the Richardson store.

X2 on Brandon. Mike at the Richardson store did my first one and it caused numerous problems and was not a good experience for me at all. Brandon had me refit perfectly in no time flat. I have not had any issues since he fit me. I very highly recommend him.

Tom at RBM Frisco is F.I.S.T. certified for bike fitting.  He did a good job fitting Beth on her tri bike.

I'm an RBM fan, but I go to the one by White Rock on Garland Road. One thing I've learned over a few fittings (I stupidly never marked it) was, the difference in being fit by a triathlete and being fit by a road bike person.

That's a great point.  The local shop in my area does ok with road bike fits, but when it comes to tri bikes, they are extremely hit-or-miss.
