Anybody ever swim in Long Pond on Lantern Hill Road in Stonington?  I ride past it frequently and this morning while seeing a canoe on it again wondered if anyone every did any OWS in it.

Whoah there guys! I know that people swim there, but year's ago, they ran a race called the Ledyard Relays. The reason they didn't have the swim in Long Pond, but at Highlands Lake was that Long pond had a high fecal coliform count. The "cottages" around the lake direct dischared sewage into the pond.

IMHO: Better choices out there.

Heh it wouldn't be the first time I swam in a community toilet bowl!!..It was actually clean (appearing) and Im hoping that those cottages have since been brought up to code..either way I survived, but you are absolutely right there are better places to swim!!

Esker Point in another month is pretty ideal. Water is shallow and there is typically no current or rough water. Outside of that the beack at Groton Long Point tends to be much rougher. I know nothing abou any fresh water in the area.

What's a matter...you don't want to do the long drive to meet me at Lake T at 5:30 in the morning   I have been using the VASA Erg all winter so I am ready to rock the swim this year...too bad I can't run.

If you find a place near you to swim, let me know and I would make the trip down there on occassion.

All about having options my friend.  I'm quite looking forward to Lake T warming and making the morning trek up there.  Can't wait to see the outcome of all your dry land work and for you to put the beat down on me.  Word is you have the newest, double secret, special neoprene wetsuit.  For those of you that don't know him or haven't seen him swim there's a reason why his username is "Stone".

Hey, I made it across Lake T once and barely needed CPR.  If Seth would just set up the coffee maker on his dock, I would be out there everyday.  Besides, since I can barely run right now, I am soooooo focussed on the swim.  I am hoping to move to the back of the middle of the pack (BOMOP)!!!!
