Detroit Dan - 2009-09-10 1:02 PM I don't want to be a BUZZKILL but.... Have any of you ever swam in Lake Erie? It is ALWAYS choppy. Very choppy.

Ugh to all that!  Coop, you can mwa-ha-ha-ha all you want.  Boise was enuf for one lifetime.  I'll take pancake flat any day of the week.  Yeah.  there I said it.

But if any of you are following the thread in the Iron Distance forum this was posted on the 8th:

It definately sounds like Rev3 are on top of things for this race.  They were out there today going over the entire bike course.  Taking a lot of input to where the finish line will be, where inside the park.  And are also looking a switching the swim to the bay area.

Come on, Kimm, it's TIME FOR YOU TO DO ANOTHER HALF!!!

Get on the bus.  We'll break you down with the badgering peer pressure by then.

Heck if this gimp can be optimisitic about doing it, you can too!

Nahhh, there's no draw for me, since I hate roller coasters.  Besides, I *may* be looking at something on the east coast.

NO go to the website. they have 2 swim courses. the bay one is in case Erie is to bad. But Erie is the mainstream plan.

I'm STRESSING about this whole hotel thingy.

Now the website is finding rooms and rates for me, but I already have a confirmation number. They have all kinds of different rooms and I don't even know what kind I have.  ARRRGG.

The race schedule shows (Athlete registration and packet pick up.) for Thursday and Friday 9-10th or 11th -2010.  I was only staying 2 nights, Saturday and Sunday.

I didn't register for the race yet. Will that sell out fast?

The funny part is, it's a year away and I'm all nerved up about it.  I'm going to a concert next week in Cleveland, don't know where I am staying and I don't care. Ha!

I'm surprised you could find rates online, I could not.  I called.  The told me I had a "Partial Lakeview Room"

Hearing that there might be a race cap of 1500, I emailed to ask and am awaiting.  I hope they do ....I'm seriously not a fan of the race clusterfuc8.  one reason I won't do Steelhead.

I'm seriously thinking about this one....SOMEBODY has to represent the west side!

Let's start some discussion on the really important details:  what is the tattoo for this race going to look like???

Hmmmm ... have you all entered the race as well - or just room reservations?

I'm thinking about this one.  I'm going to do Steelhead again - but this one would be fun too... and it's on a Sunday - so I could travel down Friday after school.  I don't know about 2 in a year though.

Maybe I'll call about a campsite....

So far just room reservations - haven't heard of anyone signing up yet, but I'm not going to wait much longer.  I've heard that this one will likely sell out fairly quickly because its a big money race - not sure how quick "quicK" is, but makes sense.

I'm also going to do Steelhead again - I had a great time and now know exactly what I need to work on to prepare.

Exactly.  I want to do Steelhead again for that reason.  I know what to expect, what the course will be like, etc.

I wanted to do this, but it's officially off the books for now.  Twohearted and I are signed up for Tawas again for next year.  It just works for us better and we had a great time this year.

The wife and I are going to do Tawas again next year too. We will have to get together before or after the race.

I was thinking the same thing...
I never did a HIM or an IM.
I'm 50 yrs old and never had a tattoo.
Is a HIM worthy of a tattoo?
Should I get 1/2 of a tattoo for HIM and the other 1/2 after an IM?

Very cool!  I like the idea of 1/2 tattoo.

So, do non-MDot events count. I'm confused.

I'm working on one that is half coloured in - but it has the 70.3 across the "IM" logo.  I'm adding it to my "No Fear" tattoo on my ankle.
