Just went back and reread the March Goals/April Goals thread. Curious as to how people did in April and to see what people are planning for May. Here's what I said for April:

Swim - 1000m continuous with pace of 1:50/100 and continue with masters
Bike - get outside as much as possible and do lots of LSD to build better base and build to 3h long ride
Run - achieve 1:30 long run and continue to focus on fast turnover and good form

I was able to swim 1000m in 18:09 during my TT and swam with masters class once a week. I got my volume on the bike up to 18 hours with 344km's of that being outside and managed a long ride of 2:50. Made my long run time goal and also managed to surpass what I wanted to accomplish in terms of distance (15km).

For May I would like to do the following:

Swim - 1000m TT sub 18:00
Bike - Average 30km/h+ on a 10k TT
Run - 2.4km run sub 10:30
Race - first race at the end of the month (sprint) - I would like to go sub 1:30 for the event with splits of 13:00/44:00/25:00.

Best of luck to everyone with the goals for the month!

Shane

Nice job Shane! It's important to remember your goals and reward yourself after reaching them. I think being realistic but optimistic is key. Anyway, way to go.

For April, my focus was:

1) 10k run (first race of any kind in almost 15 years)
2) get some outdoor riding in on my new (and first) road bike
3) start adding some bricks to my workouts

The 10k went great--surpassing my expectations.  Thanks to the Bear & Kim challenge, got 230m on the road, including a couple days where in the past I would have moved indoors--this has improved my confidence on the bike.  And I did several bricks including a 2hr/30min ride/run this past weekend (ok, that was in May).

For May, my main goal is to have a fun & successful 1st tri at the NJ Devilman sprint (.6m/19m/4m).  If all goes well, I think I should break 2hrs.

I am also riding the bike leg of a relay at the Columbia Oly Tri.  I have no real goal for this, but I'd like to challenge myself to see how hard I can ride this given I won't have to worry about a run afterwards.

Swim: Consistancy in workouts. Aiming for 3 workouts week, 1500yards+ 1 per week 2500yards+

Bike: Hit 30 hours on the bike. 5 long rides ths month. 3 hills, 2 flats.

Run: Get outside more. Treadmill is a necessity, but one run of 6+ miles outside each week

Weights: Consistancy in workouts. Get them in, where ever I can

Diet: >2500 cals of clean food. 2 sushi nights this month after 4+ hour bike rides. Those are the only cheat days.

1) did good
2) exceeded
3) had some minor injuries that kept mileage down, but still good.
4) Weights? if you count 32oz. gatorade curls *rolleyes* I MUST get this in. I can feel the difference. I'm not nearly as explosive as I was early on.
5) Diet was a failure. too much bike volume, and just plain eating too much.

SO! May is a training camp month for me. Sort of a Base 2 month along with the first two weeks of June. So I'm going big! looking forward to the 1/2 Vineman, I need to make sure the legs have it.

Goals:
a) 1 long swim, 1 interval swim, 1 recovery swim per week.
b) 600 miles on the bike. I think I can hit it. It will be hard.
c) 4 Runs per week. I need to get the feel for lots of running. Begin working to a 10 miler by June 1
d) I have to get weights in. This is the time to get my core back.
