Anyone else signed up for this yet? Here's the latest race update from Larry Brown. If you don't know him, he's the Conservation officer for this area, and he's a wicked nice guy. He puts on a great race.

Attention Athletes!

The Mighty Mississinewa Triathlon is approaching quickly, but there is still a little less then two months of training available. It will be held on September 12, 2009. We had an excellent turn out last year and we are expecting an even better one this year. Registration fees are the same as last year.
New for this year we are adding some more divisions as follows: Clydesdale, Athena, Male Team, Female Team, Co-ed Team, and Fat Tire. First and second place awards will be given for each of these divisions and first, second and third will be given for the age groups. Also new, we have shortened the run for safety and aesthetic reasons. The run is now 3.75 miles and has an additional 1/4 mile of trail.
Our limit this year is 400 participants and registrations have been picking up, so with this in mind, please register early to insure your spot and to be eligible for a free T-shirt. We encourage you to invite your friends and family to either join you in this event or just come and support you and all the other triathletes.

We appreciate your support!

Hello I am a noobie to this forum and to triathlon racing.  The mighty mississenewa will be my first race.  I am super excited about it.  I am going to check the course out within the next 2 weeks.  Any idea if wetsuits are recommended?  Is the bike course mostly hilly or flat or both?  Thanks!

Over the last 3 years, the water has been chilly, very swimable without wetsuit, but chilly, one year it was warmer. It's such a short swim, and the run up the hill is so long, I ndon't think you'd save anything, even if it were wetsuit legal. With the weather this year, I'd bank on it being chilly, but there is no way I'd wear a wetsuit there.

If you haven't seen it, the run up the hill is like several hundred yards long (is it a full quarter mile?).

Did this one last year but not doing it this year....GREAT event...a little longer than your typical, run of the mill Sprint.  Shouldn't be any worries about water temp.

I've been told the run is shorter this year, with more trail and less road, probably bring the run down to 3.5. I guess the bike is still around that portion of the lake, so it's maybe a couple of miles longer than Eagle Creek, but still in line with the likes of the Morse Summer Triathlon, or the August Indiana Downs.
