What day is your scheduled rest day?

If you have two rest days or 1, choose that option, if you don't have a scheduled "day" choose that option.

I am a teacher on summer vacation, so right now I work all of my workouts into a M-F week. I leave Sat. and Sunday for a workout of my choice or I use those days to catch up on a workout that I missed due to unexpected circumstances...(like a root canal!)

Mondays. Usually lifting and a quick swim. Every 4 weeks totally off for recovery.

None of the above.  I typically train 3 days then rest 1 day so some weeks I end up taking 2 rest days and some 1 rest day.  And the days vary.  Additionally if I've got a group or big workout scheduled on a day it will affect what I do in the days leading up and following.  My training isn't as focused right now as I'd like it to be but my whole life has been turned upside down this summer and I'm just starting to get things back into a rhythm.

On Mondays I will do weights and core but no S/B/R. Not having a rest day is neither good nor bad btu dependent on how much volume you do. I put in a lot of consistent volume 6 days per week and my coach allows a recovery day. If you don't train as much, you may not need it but for how I train, it works well.

Don't get hung up on people who may respond with comments like what's "what's a recovery day!" or throw huge volume numbers around. It doesn't always make them faster, it often just makes them tired.

I try to rest every 2nd or 3rd day. Some days however, depending on schedule, and workouts planned I rest after 4 days.  I used to only take off Saturday or Sunday, but with family and work it was getting too much.  Had to find some balance and find this works out very well for me.

Typically Mondays are my recovery days.  Sometimes I can take it totally off...but I'm in the Army, and I have to go to unit PT, but I'm in charge, so if it is a run day, which is typical, then I will go with my slowest runners and it's fairly easy.  Sometimes I might have a recovery swim on those days too, but if there is anything, it's always in the pretty easy category.

Monday. I usually walk nine in the evening on Monday during summer. (Tri training has jammed up my golf swing, though). And sometimes Friday.

on a normal day to day basis i prefer active recovery/very easy workouts, swimming or a very easy spin, or something else active.

i'll do this every 10-14 days as needed.

complete off days either happen the day after races, when i am really beat up, or when life gets in the way.

usually mondays; i typically do some significant volume (for me) on the weekends and my body needs a recovery day.

Regularly scheduled for every 3rd Friday on recovery weeks. On Friday's that I build there is an option to take a recovery day based on energy.

ditto on ignoring the overly-predictable 'what's a rest day?' comments...know that you'll have an edge on those folks who put ego before well-being (you'll know who they are, they'll tell you they are a triathlete within 5 mins of meeting you Innocent

for me, best advice I ever got was to take a rest day whenever the hell i feel like it, plan out your week or month or whatever, and if on a day you were supposed to workout you feel like hell because of the previous few days (not talking just tired or sore, but your body is really telling you to not work out), take it off and (assuming its possible) re-work your schedule. Just like I'll go longer/shorter on some days than planned, it all depends on how I feel. I'd hazard a guess that nobody on this forum is getting paid to do triathlon, so keep in mind that it should still contain some element of fun!

I do two rest days. I have tried spreading out my workouts and that just doesn't work for me. I'd rather do two a day Tues-Thurs. and take off Mon. and Fri. If I do only one on Thurs. and one on Friday, the weekend suffers because I don't have adequate recovery time. It's probably because I'm old and need extra recovery. :D

In the couple of months I've been training for tri events, I've been taking two days off a week, preferably Thursday and Sunday, which often change due to bad weather. Mind you, I've been lucky enough recently to have ample spare time during the day to train.

typically monday's - i agree with bryan - a rest day is a good idea (although active recovery works great for some).  if you are doing hard workouts - especially structured, focused workouts, you will appreciate a day to rest the legs.  Monday's work for me because sunday is typically the long run day, and the legs can be pretty smoked.

I take them when I need one - if you look at my logs they are there....they are just usually not scheduled in - or even if they are sometimes things get moved around because life happens.

But to say just ignore people who don't take one is silly.  The advantage of our having 3 sports, 2 of them non impact, is that rest days are not mandatory.
