So I am going on a mission for my church (I'm LDS), in about a year, and I am currently working to save up my money for that, and I don't have much to keep me busy for the next year before I leave except work. My boss told me about triathlons and it sounds awesome! I bought a cheap bike (fuji newest 3.0), and have been swimming and running. First tri is in Casa Grande, AZ in a couple months! Any other young people getting into the sport?

There aren't too many other young people/teenagers that are into triathlon.  I'm 17 and have been in the sport for about year and at all the races I've been to there have been just a few.  Oh well, makes it easier to get an age group award! Welcome and good luck!

Wow, you did an Ironman? You're crazy! haha. I won't even think about that until after my mission and I do a couple olys and stuff.

But yeah, I'm hoping to win the 16-19 AG at this sprint, but we'll see. I've never done anything like it, and it might be way harder than i expect.

Good for you. This will keep you focused and out of trouble while preparing for your mish.  Plus it will give you something to shoot for when you get back, all soft around the middle.

Hi Kimokeo! Welcome to the sport! Since your first tri will be in Casa Grande, I'm assuming you live in Arizona.

Keep an eye out on Arizona page - we have a fairly active group doing group rides and runs, although a lot of us are preparing for Ironman Arizona, so the training sessions are crazy long right now! But a lot of times you can join in for just one loop or part of the ride or run.

What tri are you doing in Casa Grande?
