Good for Keith and Endorfun.
But looks like the registration fee had gone up quite a bit.

$225/$250 for 2010.

What was it this year for the half? (It was like $145 the last time I did it a few years back!)

When I first saw it part of 70.3 my first thought was now the price will go up. I remember when Timberman became a 70.3 and price went up and the explanation that Mooseman didn't become 70.3 was limited space. Transition spot is tight at Moose, can't see how they can add more racers than they have had in the past.

Keith puts on excellent races and I'm sure the quality will still be top notch but I personally don't like seeing WTC putting their hands on more and more races. Why is it better for Keith? Race sold out every year anyhow?

What advantage does being 70.3 have for average triathlete? We don't want to got to Clearwater not that we'd qualify but what advantage is it for us?

While I am not thrilled with the registration price, I think this is gonna be the 70.3 for me.  Timing/location is great for my family and I.  I was looking at doing Mooseman before it was announced as a branded race and now I think the announcement has sealed the deal for me.  Just working on logistics now.

So, who else is in??

I might be in for the oly - but I am doing Florida 70.3 just a couple of weeks before and not sure I want to deal with the cold swim again....so won't be making a decision for a bit....

I signed up for HIM.  Will do Timberman and Austin to round out 2010 HIMs

FWIW, Keith said in the forum on the Endorfun website that the # of racers won't be going up.  That was raised as a potential problem over there too.  Agree with Kathy that I don't see a big benefit besides all the 70.3 branded gear they'll have now...will be interesting to see how it goes.  Unfortunately I have a conflict that weekend so i won't be making the trip again this year

I am shocked that the prices went up to over $220.  Bum deal!

And I agree with Kathy, where's the upshot if the races always sold out anyway?  I mean I love that NH venues and NEast racing gets a boost from IM branding, but I don't crave M-dot gear and will now probably look for other HIM's to race.

Money from sponsors?  I'd imagine that's the only motivating factor for it become a 70.3--at least from a business perspective.  With the 70.3 tag it gains greater exposure and coverage, thus more of a lure for sponsors.

I was debating between making this or Timberman my first HIM but now it's solved...with the price almost the same I'm going with the one that I can roll out of bed and drive 5 minutes to the course
