Pre-race routine:

granola bar and water for b-fast. Neighbors and I all rode down to the race together. I didn't make it to the course in time to meet the other bt'ers and was hoping to see a few during the race but there were so many people that I didn't see them.
Event warmup:

Didn't get much of a warm up
Run

  • 13.1 miles

Comments:

It was so busy at the start I crossed the line with the 9 minute runners, so the first few miles were spent passing people. I had set out to average about a 7:40 pace but couldn't get through the traffic from the very start and couldn't really catch on to that pace. This race had a little bit of everything for me, times when I felt really good, times when I felt pretty bad and had to push myself. Mile 9-11 were the tough ones to stay on top of the pace. Going up one of the hills in city park I got pretty tuckered out and really slowed to a trot. This was the first time in the run I thought about dickdime and how much more adversity so many others have to go through. I picked up the pace from there and the rest of the race went great. I haven't trained a ton since the malibu tri in september so although I felt I should have been capable of a faster time I was happy with my overall performance.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fitness, lack of enough training, my foot was kiling me.

There were a few places on the course where those teeny tiny inclines felt very difficult! Great job on the race Sunday!

Nice job!!  Seems there should be some way they can work it so the faster people can go from the start.
