the Bear said he'd do it again if there was enough interest. I'm going to post my mileage goal on my log, so feel free to come badger me if I'm not making it.

I'll get one started as soon as I finish up with May's challenge (have one more vote to get in. Didn't ssem to be a whole lot of interest in last month's , so give me some feedback: Did y'all not like the charity aspect? Would you rather have some  kind of male/female contest with a booty call punishment like the swim challenge? Looking for ideas...

I would be interested in a bike challenge in June. I vote for a team competition...I really love the team aspect and received so much great support from my fellow chyks that it pushed me through to overachieve on my goal.

Okay, I'm in on this one, with a few suggestions:

  • That any "goal" has to be at least 20% higher than last month's actual mileage.  I fear the ladies have been holding back on the gentlemen in order to pave the way to victory.
  • Whatever we decide to "wager", I don't want to see any more of my male compatriots (literally, I think we've seen enough).  But, the wager has to be good since we need to extract some humility from the chickas.

Of course some of the gentlemen could have held back last month with this in mind. (300 miles? In a month? That's a good week for us Cervelo riders!)

Seriously, let's flesh (no pun intended) this out, what are the terms you guys want?

I don't really care much for the men v women thing..

and trust me.. any picture of me in my trunks is certianly NOT a reward for the women..

I'd be up for a bike challenge, but I guess that means I need to get a computer on the bike to log the miles. I could use this motivation, since my bike was weak at my last race.

I'll watch for the details, but put me down.

I dunno about that 20% thing.    That would mean I need to pull off a 738 mile month.  That's two centuries a week!  I think if it is the equal to or higher than your biggest month to date ( or at least the previous month? ) that'd be more fair.

I have no doubt I could do it, but need to balance in swimming and running there too ( not to mention working full time! ).  Heh.

Maybe 20% higher, up to 500 miles? I would have hated to have that rule in effect after I rode 900 in April, meaning I needed to ride 1,080?

I couldn't even play if it was "biggest month to date," no way am I going to neglect my swim and run (and family!) at this point in the season.

I'll be willing to do the "highest + 20%" goal. I liked the team aspect. Agree with others, really made me more mindful to do my part and not let down the others on my team.

I too would like to join in this time. I like the male vs female thing. Those of us who were not in on it last month can obviously not go 20% above our previous goal.

Not your previous goal, but your previous month's actual mileage.

How would you  guys feel about the male vs female team thing but maintaining the charity aspect? maybe each team can choose a beneficiary charity to which the losing team would contribute ? Y'all can also show your booty or whatever other foolishness you decide on.

I would be in but alas I'm I'll be gone two weeks out of the month ironically crewing for a person who is doing Race Across America the 3,000 mile race across the country. Does logging someone else's miles count!

I like the team aspect too...but wondering if we might be able to do something besides boys vs. girls. Really, I can get tired of that one (but never doubt girlie power!).  Other ideas- east vs. west or young'uns vs. not-as-young'uns.  I'm in- 250 miles (FOR REAL this time).

I'd like to participate also...between moving on Monday to a different city and buying a new bike (!) on Tuesday (or Wednesday or Thursday...) I don't know how the month's best +20% but he**, I would be up for it...I think that's why it's called a challenge!

What if the Bear or someone else takes all of the people that enroll, their goals and divides them into teams? He could do that without knowledge of our ability/willingness to reach our goals and make it fair because of the randomness.

The other piece I would mention is to possibly count trainer miles. Nobody likes riding on the trainer, me included. But because of work/family committments, I have to ride on the trainer at night. I know in the April challenge with Bear they did not count.
